Finally found a post close to me so hey gang, how we all doin? I'm in Waycross (WayX) no one here besides me and this girl who drives Red 90 Laser, that thing is all tore up looks like a derby car, but it's still going LOL,,,somehow. I got to do the T-belt/water pump service b4 I go anywhere else. Will be ready by mid-Spring for road trips, maybe sooner since there is more daylight each day. After working on cars all day the last thing I want to do is work on my own but if I pace myself I can get it done in one day.....Looks like Jax Club is dead nobody posting nothing, so wouldn't count on them to want to join in. Would be nice to have around 20+ cars at least. I helped setup DSMKC back in the day (97). At first we had about 15 cars then it slowly got to where allot of posts and then no shows. So scene faded into black.

Btw looking for front bumper 92 TSi, color don't matter. I can paint. Anyone found any bone yards for DSM's other than Jax please PM me. I found one boneyard that had 3 Talons there around JAX but, still have allot of calling to do and internet searches. I know there is more and don't know the area very well is my problem.

Got new rear hubs installed last weekend. Turned the rotors and installed new pads on rear. Don't have to worry about that until next 100K. Now, waiting for T-Belt kit to show, that's the biggest job that still needs to be done. Next, project is new valve cover gaskets, and spark plug grommet seals. I spend more time locating parts, than I do installing them. Something is wrong with that equation. Luckily it's all minor stuff to do. I just need more daylight...........:thumb:

Last 3 weekends have been rained out here, not much got accomplished. Finally got T-belt kit components now just need hydraulic tensioner to get the timing belt project started. I'm going to start on T- belt area first and as I wait for parts, I'm going to go ahead and true up front rotors and install new pads as well, while I wait on parts to get here. She is almost back up to par with the maintenance schedule so, hopefully weather permitting will be on the road soon within a few more months of course that said, weather permitting =)

Thankfully the weather has been pretty cooperative this past weekend. Got the front rotors off and trued up today at work. Ordered new ceramic front pads and they will be here tomorrow. As I was removing the rotors I noticed that the outer tie rod ends had some play in them so, will dig up my receipts and get those warrantied as well. Have to replace spark plug wires because the grommets around the valve covers have started to leak. Only thing will have to purchase out of pocket so far will be valve cover gasket set. NAPA is going to hate me when I'm done but, oh well that is why I buy only those parts that carries lifetime warranty.

As is was going over the car I realized whom ever installed the transmission, had left out a few bolts, well actually 4 bolts total. The starter only had one bolt holding it on, so had to buy a bolt just for that today. The major ground wire for the starter had not even been connected since that bolt was left out too! I replaced the ecu with one that I had from my last TSi, turns out the ecu that was in it before I had bought it, was so bad that someone tried to rebuild it but, did one poor job. I am surprised the car would even start and run. But hey, that the testament about these cars, they are pretty bullet proof and very reliable.

This weekends project will be disassembling the timing belt and remove the water pump for warranty replacement. The T-belt parts have arrived. Just have to buy a new hydraulic tensioner to finish out the job. The T-belt is the last of the major work that needs to be done. From here on out it will be little things to fix and replace. Will make a trip to the salvage yard next weekend to see what treasures I can find. This extra daylight will help a bunch. I can now work on her late in the evening after I get home from work. Now, I just need is some extra energy to keep me motivated but, when you work on other people cars all day long, the last thing you want to do is work on your own. I am getting closer to getting the maintenance schedule back on track which has turned out to be a project just in itself.
