I recently swapped my cams from Graveyard 274's to the FP2's. I swapped because I was unhappy with drivability and lack of vacuum so no brakes. All I did was swap the cams and got it retuned at the same place and the same boost level. I did an overlay of the two pull so it would be easier to see the differences. I know people often ask about the graveyard cams as they are looking for cheap cams and this dyno graph reinforces the saying, "You get what you pay for". Here are the main differences and the dyno graph:

Graveyard 274's: -4 inhg(vacuum), bucking when below 2k, slow spool, hard to street drive so not good for DD

FP2's: -16 ingh(vacuum), no bucking, quicker throttle response, quicker spool, great for DD cars and track, more controllable idle

Graph info:

FP2 cams: Red lines on graph

Graveyard 274's blue lines

dotted lines are torque
solid lines are HP

I've been wondering about the Graveyard 274s for a while. Its nice to finally see a comparison.

-4 in/hg?!?! Thats just rediculous. I would have hated them.

I've been looking at the FP2s and the GSC 274 cams for a while. I'm leaning towards the GSC 274 set.

Im not sure about regrinds, i thought i read that somewhere on here, i could be wrong though.

I'd be interested to see how those regrinds do with them actually dialed in. That low of vacuum is likely caused by the cams being out of adjustment.

We tried to adjust the cams and saw little to no improvement. The FP2's are installed straight up in the run and the graveyard cams were adjusted as that is the most vacuum I could get.

And I ran the graveyard 274's for about 2500 miles or so and could not get them to respond better or some say "dial them in"

When the graveyard cams were installed straight up, I had even worse vacuum if you can imagine that.

This is a test that I've been looking forward to for a while. Interesting results

yes graveyard cams are pretty much delta cams, and fp2 cams are comp 101200(272's)

Yes the FP2's are just a better cam overall, they have went over and beyond my expectations. Its funny how I gained that much spool up without losing any top end. I think it may just be that the Graveyard 274's are either not meant for a 2.0L or just a poorly designed cam.

I believe I read somewhere on here in a graveyard ad that the 274s are ground to graveyard specs, if that's so I would stay away. Those guys really don't seem to know what they are doing. I've got the gsc2 cams in my car which is a 274 and have no idle issues or vacuum issues, and they are installed straight up. Good results and another thread showing proof that graveyard products should be avoided.

When Jon was supposed to have shipped me my GM274s in Feb 2010 he instead sent me a pair of what they were calling 272s and the only reason I knew this is because it was written all over both boxes. He never sent me a cam card with either the 272s or 274s I would eventually received.

I had three DSMs at the time and just threw the so called 272s in my 6-bolt 2G.

He tried to make it right and let me keep my cores that I was going to send in when they came out (I had done about $2.5K in business with him all told) and as often as they made mistakes he tried to make it right more often than not.

And he also gave me a break on what were supposed to be GM274s. But when I got them it was pretty clear that these things were far bigger in duration and lift than anything he was advertising. Again never got a cam card or even rough specs, and that these were the first set of 10 that came in and were effectively making me a beta tester.

These things were monstrous and idled like dogsh*t. I wasn't in a position to degree and measure them myself at the time because of my fathers ailing health, so I only went off my machinist told me. Lift was a c*nt hair shy of .450, extreme ramp rates and well over 280* duration @ 0.050

The scary part is they were advertising these to be installed straight up and made no note for the average DIY DSMer to mind the spring seat pressure or pressure needed over the nose of the cam.. what rev range they were intended for, valve tip length, installed height, measure V to P clearance make sure you had clearance if the head or block was decked... etc.

Granted someone installing cams should probably have researched that, but it is still something you see pointed out by groups like Kelford GSC FP and others.

The 272s were a bit off as well, also being from the first set of 10 ground "from a v8 shop up the street" as he explained it at the time. But they were in a much milder 18G build and installed in a hurry and as it was a DD at the time. They also left much to be desired but still improved breathing past 5.5k, though thats not saying much compared to the stock grinds.

Eventually I got sick of the mix ups, delays and constant miscommunication/no communication. The constant employee turn over is, or at least was a symptom that something was very wrong.

Now I would go so far as to recommend avoiding The DSM Graveyard based on a year and a half of trying to support a new local DSM shop..

Glad you are much happier with a better known cam. Congrats on the new numbers Boomer, cant wait to get this down here when we go to the shootout and stick it on the mustang dyno :)
