I've been searching turbos and what not but I see in the dyno challenge the hx40 put down over 600. From what I was told the hx35 wont. My goal is 600. I know that's a big jump. But from what I read, the hx35 will put down 600 with a twin scroll. I know extreme psi sells the BEP hot side for the hx40 for mhi flange and t3. Can the mhi put down 600. I have a fp manifold and want to keep it. I know i can get the adapter they make. Any reccomendations would be great. I have all the supporting mods. I'm building my motor over the winter im just trying to figure this turbo stuff out. Heres what I read. Can the hx35 put 600?

HX35:

The 8blade hx35 has a 56mm compressor inducer. This is found on 1995-1998 cummins manual pickups. The compressor flows 52 lb/min according to the compressor map. The bolton BEP housing (0.55 a/r) is enough to push the limit of the compressor. There's several 500whp 8blade hx35 cars out there with the bolt on housing. It reaches 20+psi by 3500rpms in 3rd with 272 cams. Smaller cams would equal a faster spool speed in most cases.

The 7blade hx35 has a 56mm compressor inducer. This is found on the 1999-2002 cummins manual pickups. The compressor flows 60lb/min according to the compressor map and logged results from a member here. The bolton BEP housing with the hx35 turbine wheel do not SEAM to have enough flow to really reach the potential of 60lb/min. But many have logged over 50lb/min so far and seen 500whp. The stock hx35 12cm^2 twinscroll turbine housing is a t3 flange housing. This mated to a NON-divided runner manifold has produced a 132mph trap speed with a full weight 1g AWD. This is about 600whp. So the flow is there with the stock housing if you use a non-divided manifold. The spool speed of the 7blade hx35 is similar to the 8blade hx35 with 20+ psi by 3500rpms in the bolton housing and by 4000rpms with the stock housing with a non-divided manifold.

Did anyone ever compile a list of manifolds to fit the hx, he, or hc without waterpipe issues? I am still looking for a t3 for my h1c with a BEP hotside that will fit without denting my water pipe.

I don't want so spend money on something that won't get me there. I'm just asking for reviews and numbers on both turbos 54 mm hx40 6 blade. Or the pte 6152. Knowing the pte is mhi flanged would it be worth it. Is that hp rating with mhi flange. I know the results for the hx40 is there but on a 60 mm.

I see the highest 56 mm holet is 565. Do you guys think I can get 600 with that turbo or is the pte more achievable to get there?

I never said I want it street able. I'm just trying to find out what turbo will get me there easiest. I'm doing my build over winter since I have new daily driver. I don't need the awd swap to put dyno numbers.

I know nothing of the pte, besides that they are not the longest lasting. Your not going to make 600whp on anything with a 54mm inducer. You need the 60mm hx40, and even then your going to struggle.

Also, I don't believe there is a 54mm 6 blade hx40.

Your hx40 options are:
56mm 8 blade 52lb/min
58mm 8 blade 60lb.min
60mm 7 blade 69lb/min
60mm 6 blade 69lb/min

I agree for that much power beingput down to the ground your going to go through axles like free cake at a weight watchers convention.
And it's not a very streetable power goal. I think you should do the awd swap
First. Think about it do the swap get a strocker kit that will bring down that spool
Time to a more streetable car. You know what I'm sayin add an extra 3-5 liters of displacement better low end torque and enough exaust gasses to get that turbo a spooling. Focus on you engine build first cause that's where you really need to put your time and money. Cause a 600 hp turbo ain't going to do anything on a cheap last minute build. This is just my .3 cents man winters coming soon. And if you want to get it ready for the shoot out then we need to start soon LOL.

Are you taking mass amounts of crack cocaine?

Get a 60mm HX40. Stay away from journal bearing PTE turbo's. And DEFINITELY DEFINITELY stay the F away from the PTE Mitsu bolt on housing!!!

The hx40 will get you to your goal..
The 6152 with PTE's Mitsu bolt on housing will get you heart broken

Have you ran the pte turbos before? Is that a fact? Im trying to get people that have actually ran PTE turbos. Im looking for a 60mm hx40 but all I can find is the 56mm. What do you guys think of using the mhi to t3 adapters?

Ok that was straight foward. But its the truth. I saw his thread on the pte turbos but from what I read its a hit and miss. And what would I use for a o2 housing if i went with a t3 that has a vband. I know alot of people make custom ones, but on top of that I was going to use punishments wastegate stup off the o2. So I guess ill run it off the manifold. What is a good price range for the vband o2 that works with a 3 inch downpipe.

Ok I figured out this turbo deal but every one I found is vband. Do I HAVE to get one made. And what is a good price. I know punishment has a few but none of what I think I need. Jm fab gave me a quote of 400 bucks. I know power aint cheap.

I know this thread been bouncing back and forth but I have more questions.

What do you guys think about a 58mm hx40 making 600whp. The guy is telling me that "its been proven to make over 700"

Then theres a gt30 but I dont think this can get there.

Then theres a pte 6776. He also says it can reach over 700.

So what do you guys think of the pte6152? This is the exact one.
Precision Turbo - SC61 Sport Compact Series Turbo: No Limit Motorsport

The hp rating is above 600 with a mhi hot side. I will be externally gated.
This thread = every reason I'd never buy a journal bearing PTE turbo.

By the way- you're likely to never see 600whp from a DSM bolt-on PTE turbo based on the poor flow rate of the turbine housing itself.

Whoever told you that is full of shit. The highest-dyno HX40 on a DSM to date was 685whp, and that was done with a 7-blade 60mm model.

The 8-blade is rated at 62 lb/min peak; that's enough to get you to 600whp if you're a good tuner.

I have ran a PTE scm6152e before. In fact, it was the first (big) turbo I bought 7+ years ago. I have a video somewhere. PILE OF TRASH. Buy the 60mm HX40, put it in a T3 housing, and enjoy your car.

Im no longer looking into pte turbos. Im leaning toward a hx 40 but not sure of what one yet. If the 58mm will get me there, I would like to be the first or few that get it.

Anyone else running a 58mm?

For the final deciding factor I have to choose between the hx40 and h1e. When I read one has a vband and the other has bolts. But as far as performance there both 58mm. Which one is better? Im not sure what to do?

Im pretty sure the t3 housing will work. My buddy nate runs a 58mm hx40 and i think he has the bep. he puts down around 620awhp too LOL

I was wondering if someone can confirm what hx40 this is. I just got my BEP housing. But It seems like almost all of the hxs on here have a place for the fitting on the compressor cover. But for some reason it dont.

1 Why dont mine have that fitting?
2 Is this a legit 8 blade?
3 From the pics can you tell if its good to go?

It has very very little side to side. No in out. I got it for 160 shipped. Seems to good to be true.

Can anyone tell if its the 58mm? I just tapped the cover for my fitting.
