There is no way this is not April fools. A guy that is completely Dsm retarded, no offense op, is forking out 32k for it. Not to mention he can't drive a 5speed, I can see it now this guy buys the car gets to the first red light after stalling it 5 times doesn't want to be embarrassed so he revs up dumps the clutch and torque steers into the car beside him LOL. If this was real expect a rip beautiful dsm thread because there is no way he is making it home in that car. Why would anyone even want the bill for that being road driven clearly track purpose only. If this is real I can't believe it but good luck on the sale Tim obviouly put loads of work in it.

OP, I would strongly consider test driving other vehicles to learn so you can drive/under standard how a clutch system works and feels first before you pick this one up.

Congrats on the purchase though. You do have a primary vehicle other than this right?

This makes no sense... Why would you have no clue about dsm's and drop 32k on a drag car? With that kind of cash I would be picking up a Evo 10!

Your worried about a headlight for inspection? If AZ is anything like TX, You might want to run down and find out what all is required before you purchase. In TX, you have to have a working defroster... And you, do not have one.. Food for thought.

When you have parts and pieces for sale, I'll be hitting you up.

Jayson

32k? I don't care what mods are done to it, APRIL FOOLS!

Do you have any clue as to the costs of creating a car of this speed?

OP, please have Tim "detune" it for you for 2 reasons:

1. We don't want to see you dead in some firery crash
2. You don't want to start breaking things on the car

Tim, congrats on going back to the rotary, I'm hoping the wife will go for a mark 4 supra or a FD 3

Are you kidding me kid!?!?!?! You want to learn how to drive a manual in a car that has well OVER 800 all wheel horse power.. AND drive it on the street when it is strictly built for the drag strip with a full roll cage and a chute?!?! I sat in this car and I will even say, I wouldnt even want to climb over the shoulder bar to race this thing let alone drive it all the time, and Im smaller than Tim! Wow, uhhh.. Im at a loss of words.. Sorry to say but this is likely to be wrecked.. :/

I love that car just looked at it on tims website. That thing is amazing. I don't have near enough exp to even dream of driving something like that. I do know how to drive a stick an I have some modds on my rs-t but I know my limits. I wish Tim luck on the rx-7 an to op that's buying this I hope your a fast learner and don't kill your self or that baby. I actually wish I could throw that money at it myself if I could I would build one though like I'm trying to do. If it makes you happy to buy it than go for it.... But if this really is April fools its so wrong LOL.... Good luck yall

what are your plans for it? thats gotta suck not having a/c in az.

ya i'm sure it'll suck. i do plan on taking it to the strip to see what i can do. i've always liked drag racing but never had a car that would be worth taking. i'll take it easy in the car at first to learn how to drive it and then hopefully put down some good times. i don't expect to do what tim has done with the car since i'm not as good of a driver, but i'll learn.

Hahaha.... Oh wow, i pray the OP does not get this car. This is wayyy too much car for you, and if your worried about the headlight passing state inspection, than just wait till your show them under the hood. But yeah, shame to see the car go out like this.

ya i have to look into that. i may see if i can find someone around here to "help" me out with inspection.

I call bs on all this. Your current car is a corsica and you have 30k to drop on a drag car. On top of that you want it as a weekend driver for car meets when it sounds like you know nothing about cars in general. What are you going to say when someone asks you about the motor? (Uh its shinny and goes real fast). You want to learn about cars then build your own, don't buy a finished drag car and call it your own.

i'm sure tim will tell me everything about the car, so i know what's in it and what it's capabile of. plus i plan on doing a lot of reading on here and dsmtalk to learn about these cars. i don't have the time to build my own, which is why i purchased one that's ready to go.

make sure you do mainetenance on it befor modz or racing. heres a link on what to do.

thanks for that link :thumb:

yes, i have a chevy corsica. it's fairly reliable.

thanks for that suggestion. i have a friend who's car is manual so i'll see if they'll let me learn on it. gonna go text them now actually...

as i said before, i wanted a fast car. not quite sure why this is so hard to understand. i'm not a big fan of 4 door cars, which is why i went with an eclipse. i was also considering other cars but i wanted awd :hellyeah:

thanks for the tip on what won't pass. as i mentioned above, i may have to find someone to "help" me pass.

i think i may have tim do that for the drive back. this way i can get used to the car at a lower power level and work my way up to its full potential.

so i know i'll need some safety stuff for the track, and i don't think my bicycle helmet will cut it :p anyone know what all stuff i'll need?

Wow, this is to the kid buying this car... I actually learned how to really drive a stick when i bought my first dsm last year in july. And as you can see on the pic its completely stock right and it has bad syncros. But dude the reason ppl here telling you why you should pass on this car because you dont understand the power you got there, and the money you gonna be throwing away mainly on repairs..this car to you a bieginner at driving a stick is like a child trying to fly a damn fighter jet. This car is a 8 sec drag car meaning its barely legal to drive on the street. And honestly i m dissappointed in tim for selling this car to someone who doesnt know what he is buying. To me its irresponsible on his part but no disrespect to him but careless..

That is true, but if you've been wanting out of the game for a while and someone offers you want you want for the car, would you take it? Yes, it may be hard to watch it go, especially to someone who's not as skilled/knowledgeable as you, but money talks (especially when your heart just isn't in it anymore - not sure if Tim's is or not).

Or better yet- Register as Non-Op then you don't have to worry about it. But that's strictly track car, Until you can find someone to "Help" you out.

So to you buying this car its a buy at your own risk..because if it was stock its good to get to understand the car and learn how to drive and build it up but dont do it to a car built for an expert driver.

i'll look into that

yes i know it's more car than i've had before and i know there will be a steep learning curve. i'm reading a lot of threads on here about high hp cars and learning some good stuff. i know i won't pick it up right away, but i'll keep reading and reading until i get all i can, and then start asking questions.

fail.

I mean is this just a joke? I know its April fools today.

why is that a fail? i'm not lucky enough to have a garage yet. if i need more tools, then i have no problem picking up more.

decide on a catch can yet?

Well, I picked up a full face scooter helmet. It's not DOT approved or anything, but I've had several 12.0 passes with no complaints. And it's lighter than standard helmets so should help a little on your trap speed! And you need gloves.

Also, I found some old drag radials in the shed for your 18" chromies. Better performance on the street. They are very rare but PM me and I'll ship em to you for free...I went with 17.5" :sneaky:

Just read about the higher first and watched the drag passes, I give the clutch less than 20....

hey it's gotta look good too! the 18's i have are chrome as well so it should match well if they fit.

i haven't driven anything this fast, but i've driven some 500hp cars. i have a carport and a 80 piece tool kit from sears - will that work?

REALLY??? Chrome wheels??? A Carport and an 80 piece tool set? First off, your clutch wont last until you drive it home because you dont know how to drive it! This is not even close to a car you should be learning on. And 500hp cars off the dealership lot is not even close to what this monster is pushing. You are making a bad decision and you are going to RUIN this car. :banghead:

It's an empirical fact that the ability to keep "your" and "you're" straight is correlated with the ability the feather a clutch. Compare your (you're?) posts to his. Then tell me whose (who's?) clutch won't make it home.

The more posts that get added on to this thread, the more it seems that this is 1 huge April fools joke LOL.

@ OP
If this truly your car. I would highly advise on getting some kind of Daily Beater that is stick to learn on driving first. Park the car the second you get it, throw a car cover over it, and do not touch it until you are VERY comfortable with driving stick. While doing that, make sure you READ A TON on here, and any other related forums for info.

If you haven't already, get yourself a Haynes or Chiltons manual. As well as the 4G63 Performance book which can be found on Amazon.

No offense or anything, but I still think this is a joke LOL.
