Hey Ive got a 97 gsx that runs, but it runs rough. The guy I bought it from said it was the oil pump. I believe its the fact this isnt connected.

Also I checked for codes and no codes come up. This is a stupid fix, I know, but I just couldnt find its connection. Thanks for the help.

To answer your question I believe that line is part or your Ac system. Far as the oil pump being in question what does your oil pressure look like? have you done a boost leak test a boost leak will cause running issues.

The oil pump is bolted directly to your your engine block. There's very few ways I could imagine it "not being connected" without it completely missing.

That line is for your air conditioner and runs between the A/C compressor and the condensor.

Oil pressure is fine. And I havent checked for boost leaks yet. I didnt think it would be the oil pump. I also do have an oil leak somewhere though. Its coming from the belt side of the motor.

Well thanks for the help with that line, now on to some other tests for the rough idle.Appreciate the help guys

Also the guy you got the car from has he done any work to the timeing belt like replace it and is a sputter kind of rough or is it a bad vibration cause if the guy u got the car from replaced the timing belt he could of line the oil pump sprocket up wrong by putting the weighted side up and that will cause sever engine vibrations

yeah ill check my TB and plugs, and yes had work previously done to it. The head was rebuilt. Its more of a vibration running rough.

yeah im gonna have to do that. The plug wires look new but im still going to pull and check the plugs.

i wouldnt believe almost anything that guy said.. it runs rough because of the oil pump? unless he meant out of time like someone else said... ha thats a new one

yea i would check out your oil pump sprocket chances are when he took the head off he probally didnt line the OP sprocket back up

k good to know. Ill check it out too

So I checked out the throttle body, cleaned that out and checked my plugs and wires. They look like they could be replaced so i will. Ill let ya guys know how that goes. Also have a 16g turbo if that might give anyone other info to why its running rough.
