Hi,

I have just purchased a 4g63t from a friend, this engine is (wrecked?):

-Cranckshaft, main bearings & one connecting rod are compromised.

Due to a complete rebuild, how parts I need to buy?

-New 7 bolt crankshaft
-New set of pistons
-New connecting rods
then?
I need to buy oversizes?

Thanks a lot for answers!!

Sorry 4 my english!!!WTF

not meaning to high jack this thread but, i actually used to live in italy, on sardinia island, in la maddalena. my dad was in the navy and was stationed out there. hows is it over there this time of year?

good luck on the motor build, and i how many dsm s are over there? a few or are there rare?

thank you

I went to sardinia just 2 weeks ago in holidays...rain rain rain... no sun....
I live in Noth Italy...TREVISO, here there are about 40 DSM's (1g/2g)...only NA models (no 420a but 4g63's)...In italy we have only 5 FIVE 2g's - GSX very rare yep!

and why does it look like the head has been painted black?? it looks very odd. and for exxxel.... that head should be bright shiny aluminum with bronze colored cams....

haha :p I think it's burned or overheated oil...It's something like gel...WTF

No some off brand types of oil leaves a black residue like that in the block. I know Mystic oil does it really bad.

just use OEM internals for your power goals. if you want, you can use 6 bolt conrods and have them machined to fit on the 7 bolt crankshaft. for 16g you do not need forged pistons/rods.

The darkness of the oil indicated that the oil change intervals were much longer than intended. I would definitely consider new lifters as they clogg up even under a well maintained high mileage engine. i recommend the 3g upgraded lifters as they are very quiet. From the cylinder bore measurements you listed, it would be possible to run a standard size piston. as long as there is no excessive scoring, you could get away with using a ball hone to make a crosshatch and avoid boring .020 over. This would be especially true if you plan to use wiseco or other aftermarket forged pistons as a larger clearance is needed for expansion. It is possible to use evo3 rods or 6 bolt rods as they are stronger than 7bolt rods with some machining.

Ok I just got pistons and rods...:hellyeah:

Please, I need some help from you guys!

I have some troubles to find a crankshaft in italy, the 2 choises are:

- Machine my crank to a .20mm undersize (about 220€ / 270$)
- Buy a new crank from Japanengines.com (about 250€ / 315$)

What can I do?

2 years later.....job done. OMG

Looks great.

What did you end up doing with your crankshaft?

I have a little issue with the water temp, my stock gauge is almost always in the half top of the scale...but my aftermarket (mechanical) gauge reads only 90-100 degrees °C at the radiator hose (think is right)...

Is that an air bubble in the thermostat housing?
When I shut off the engine I can hear the water boiling into the housing....WTF

looks great man! how are things in italy? soccer?

Things in italy are really bad...no work and politicians stole us the money.... in italian language "BELPAESE di MERDA". :thumb:

Did you change the radiator. The N/T radiators are half size the turbo radiators. In other words - they are 2 times thinner. A friend of mine didn't change the radiators and he had a lot of temp issues. Have in mind that the summer is not even close ...

Sounds like a bad thermostat or clogged cooling system. Next time it's warmed up and running, feel the bottom radiator hose. If it's much colder than the top, yout T-stat is bad.

By the way, GREAT job on the conversion!
