So this guys would like to sell me his 1996 Talon Esi just for 500$, all it needs is a alternator and a battery. Sounds like a good deal but the problem is i already have 1997 Eclipse and my parents only allow me to have one car, so i have to get rid of the eclipse first if i want to get the talon, the esi has more miles but has better features such as cruise control, power windows and locks and sunroof. I have people interested in buying my car, its just that i wanna know if the talon is worth putting time into.

Put your alternator and your battery in it and see if that's the truth or bullshit:thumb:

It's hard to say which one to keep without actually seeing them both. Pics could help, but without knowing for sure what all is wrong with either car. With just the info given, I would go with the Talon since it is higher optioned. If at all possible, do what gusu said.

I would keep the car that you have if it is reliable. You never know what you are getting into with a 500 dollar car. There is usually a reason that a car is being sold for 500 bucks.

Sounds like a bad idea to me, I mean think about it for a sec. You have a reliable car now, and you're thinking about getting rid of it for another car that's being sold for only 500$, has more miles than your current one, AND it doesn't even turn on? Sounds fishy to me man, unless he let's you throw in your battery and alternator to see what's really going on I would just walk away.

Well the reason he's selling it for that low is ### he moved to florida and took his tsi with him and the esi was left behind so he just wants to get rid of it, has no use for it

As stated already, you never know what you are getting into with a 500 dollar car. You are taking his word for it. IF you want to buy it go ahead, but you are just asking for trouble.

Convince your parents you want another car as a "project car" so you can learn more about working on cars and then you can help fix their cars for free. I'm sure they will see it as an educational thing.
