ive searched far and wide to find a b&m shifter for my 2g, but they have been discontinued :( so i hade to settle for a megan shifter. does anyone know who makes a shifter of equal quality to the b&m? .. or is megan as good as it gets?

The mirage power one on eBay for 45 is made just like the b&m. My b&m is better than my buddy's Megan.

I have a Megan shifter and it too offers two throw reductions. I believe the only difference was that b&m also gave you a shorter shifter height

I've used both Megan and B&M....the shifts are about 100x more precise than Megan.
Side by side comparison they look identical...well almost.
But you have to actually drive around in it to feel and see the difference.

i too was looking for a B&M but i settled for a megan, it should arrive tomorrow, ill let you know how it is, i have heard some good things bout it.

Honestly id rather rock a megan then a ebay short throw and i only paid 75 for it, maybe i can pick up a B&M down the road and sell the megan for 50 or something idk.

Does anyone know why B&M discontinued them?

when i was trying to track the shifter down, i called them directly and asked. they said that sales and manufacturing had slowed down soo much that it was time to discontinue. i was pissed

Unfortunately this was most likely due to the mass amounts of B&M knockoffs being sold on ebay. At one point the knockoffs were selling for just under $30 shipped all over ebay, and shortly after B&M discontinued there shifter. I was lucky enough to pick one up second hand just before they were discontinued.

Yeah, B&M's price was too salty. They retailed for around $180. And when China copied them, B&M didn't take steps to help the product survive. If B&M would have filtered out the R&D expenses and reduced the MSRP to around $120, it would probably still be being manufacturered and sold.

I have an original B&M that I bought back in '02. It was the first part I put on my car. It's a very nice product, but so are the chinese knock-offs.

I completely agree Paul. I never understood why they never lowered the price after recovering the r&d investment. I bought mine used because I felt that $180 was just way too much.

So are these knock off b&m shifters the better ones out there now? I was planning on getting one from dogbox racing because they seemed the best, but they went out of business i guess. And what are these knock offs called? Can someone post an ebay link for one?

Well my ebay knock off b&m lasted around 3 years until the bearing seized and snapped the bolt. Going to try the Megan to see how long this lasts. So far I have so say the ebay one gave a more solid tighter shift.

A couple of years ago Hurst actually made one for our cars. Hurst and B&M are the same company. Only difference I could tell form my B&M and my dad's hurst was packaging and it was gold instead of blue.

Is there any way you can tell if a suppose B&M shifter is authentic? The dude i bought my car from a while back sold me suppose B&M shifter for real cheap since i bought the car. It didnt really matter to me much I just wanted a shifter. But theres no B&M logo or marked on the shifter. Is there a way you can tell?

I cannot believe they discontinued the B&M shifter. Currently I own 3 cars, a 2g GSX (obviously) a 1996 Camaro and a 2006 RSX type-S. All three have B&M's in them. Id never have it any other way. Now it looks like if I ever get rid of my 2g for another one i have to make sure I remove it. The shifting quality is a million times better then stock. Maybe youll luck out and find a used one. All i know is that im going to take care of the one i have... good luck, and keep your eyes open

b&m would mark their product. it's most likely a knock off.
