Does anybody remember the soda SURGE from the late 90s? I do and there is a movement on facebook to try to convince Coca Cola to bring it back. Here's the link so you can "Like" the page.

I remember it literally melting styrofoam cups. That stuff was battery acid.

Be sure the Like the page on facebook. The group has grown by around 1000 in just the past week. The more people that like the page, the better chance of SURGE making a comeback!

My junior high (grade 7-9) had a SURGE contest. We emulated the commercials and did wild shit to see who could make it to the can. We had fire hoses, 70% incline hills that were 40 feet tall, we had gymnast mats, towers, water balloons - everything. I think the first part was even a bike race.

To be honest, I can't be believe we did something so amazing and as dangerous as we did, as a school function. There were no blocked off streets for the bike race, it was 25 city blocks in length all in residential areas where you'd have 14 year old kids ripping through stop signs at 70kph in order to win. Then we had to make it on our bikes, if you didn't get hit by a car, back to the school, and down a 100 yard corridor with the schools fire hydrant's focused on you.

No one made it down the line, everyone got wiped out by the hose. You left your bike and ran to the sides where the water couldn't get you. Then you make your way up some concrete steps, into the school yard and onto the field hockey field. There lay the last challenge. You had to run, full steam up a 70% incline hill, for 40 feet and reach the top. Only the grass was soaked, and there was really nothing but mud beneath your feet thanks to another hydrant.

We scrambled up to the top, kids stepping on others, some being tossed back down into the ever growing pile of crumpled teenage bodies. If you were in the lucky 10 of 120 original participants you had made it to the top of the hill only to face 1.5 stories of gym mats in a tower all boxed in by concrete walls and floors. You had to wrastle yourself up to the top of the mat-tower, soaking wet and adrenaline blazing through your blood stream towards the single SURGE can perched upon the tower.

My friend, Ian Smith, had blitz passed me on the hill and reached the mats before I even got within sight. He scaled the tower in some sort of sugar-induced spasm and claimed his trophy. The celebration was huge. Nascar doesn't have shit on this. The spray of SURGE 2L bottles from all sides, the buzzer going off, the wasted combatants, the cheering 9th grade girls that had already turned 15... the victory.

Jesus Christ that was ####ing epic. Go BC.

EDIT: Thinking back... it may have even been SURGE sponsored.. maybe. I get foggy like that.

^Most epic story EVER!!! When I was like 7 years old my mom bought me a 20 ounce bottle of this stuff and it was the last time she did too! Lol I was sooo much worse than a meth head LOL.

They did not discontinue it. It still is sold overseas.... I had a craving after a few beers last month and ebay'd a bottle for 20 bucks. think it was ebay.uk LOL It was so good.

I wish I could get a bottle of Urge for $20 on ebay. Ever since the Surge Movement has started exploding, a single unopened can of Surge that is over 12 years old sells for $100. You can't hardly find Urge, which is the Norway equivalent of Surge, but it's not the same. Urge in Norway was basically discontinued around the same time as SURGE, but there was a movement to bring it back and it was!

Surge had a child and named it Vault - a more toned down but equally as delicious beverage.

...which is now apparently discontinued as well.

Often imitated, never duplicated....

It's awesome that so many people on this forum liked SURGE! I thought it was long forgotten. It may very well be back soon. And I really don't like Mt. Dew, but I do like code red.

Oh we can never forget or let down Mountain Dew. I have 2 12 packs of vault under my desk. You know - for safe keeping. And the Apocalypse. While everyone is dying I'll be enjoying an ice cold and likely somewhat flat Vault.

I loved this stuff as a kid, Vault wasn't bad either. Nothing good last forever though, seems like the really good drinks always get discontinued.

Because nearly anything that is 'delicious' or 'awesome' gets boycotted by 'concerned adults'....Like Duke Nukem.

That's probably what happened. My mom didn't like the stuff because there were rumors about how it was dangerous because of the caffeine levels. Surge had less caffeine than Mountain Dew! What can you do...
