I am looking for a place in NorCal to do head work. Valve Job, Decking, etc.

Any recommendations? I'm in Mountain View but I can drive up to SF or down to SJ if the place is worth it.

There are two/three right off the bat that I can think of. Emo's in Alameda is a pretty reputable machine shop; they aren't a performance shop or anywhere close but they do good work. I've had a set of heads sent out to him and they came back in great shape. There is then a cylinder head shop in Oakland called American Cylinder Head, I believe they do machine but I'm not completely sure on that. The other one is Al Hubbard machine shop in Hayward. They do primarily domestic engines but a fair amount of import stuff too. I've gotten quotes from them and they are pretty reasonable. I've seen the work they do and they look pretty decent.

This dude in santa clara does good work. Website is boring, but he's an old guy who's been around the block and knows what he's doing. Fair prices and he checked my cylinder head for flatness for free since I was a return customer last time.

+1, I brought my old head there before and yours as well. Their turn around time is quick and good pricing.

+2, have run 4 heads through there and the work is very clean, and pricing/turnaround are reasonable.

Oh wow these guys are still in business. I remember going to their old shop was real close to Scott BLVD and it wasn't there anymore guess they moved. They do good work. Had a 420A, 4agze, and L28 head done there.

These guys are in Hayward and take care of all the machine work on my Evo!

I have a fully built 2.0L motor w/ race ported head from Rob Jr.

They can get all the parts etc to build a quality head

For my performance stuff, Daves Engine Machining in Newark.

For quick, basic jobs, I am fond of Cylinder Heads Unlimited.
