So I need to replace my front lower control arms. Well the passenger side. Saw that on oem mitsubishi parts website that it's $145 for one. Seems a little steep. Anyone know if something on ebay would be decent and do the job, such as NEW PAIR CONTROL ARM LOWER FRONT ECLIPSE 95-99 | eBay

Yes, I know the suspension is important and you shouldn't skimp on buying cheap parts. I definitely don't want something that's gonna fall apart on me. However, I feel I can do better than $145 for one. Any suggestions where you guys go for yours?

I never used ebay stuff like that on my cars, ebay hit or miss, you want parts go to the vendors for suspension parts, any online store has good products, my cars see quality parts, i pay to play or leave it alone.

Pay to play, good motto. I can respect that. You guys think the parts on something like rock auto would have quality parts? Problem is selecting a brand, since they list several.

I bought a replacement OEM front kit from JNZtuning for $88.00 per side for my 98 GSX. It includes both arms and the knuckle. So you can replace all at once and save some money to.

Do NOT buy the 65$ arms from rockauto. I think they are reeza?? I JUST installed them 1500 miles ago and the ball joint is already shot.

For reference, I've been using some eBay front lower control arms for a while now. I forget off hand which ones are on my car at this moment, but I'm pretty sure I bought them mainly for the compression arms. They have seen a couple autox events and a track day.

Now, have I checked for ball joint play yet? Nope. Would I run them again vs. getting the 2g front knuckle kit for cheaper OEM arms? Heck no.

Get a front knuckle kit and replace both arms with new ones and have a spare knuckle.

If the control arm ball joint is worn they are covered by the recall and you don't have to pay anything .Recalls are for the life of the car.

Ebay for intake, exhaust stuff like that is fine.Anything that may go in engine, or anything safety related like control arms, probably not a good idea.

Hey Ihave to pimp this guy out. look for kospeed2008

I PM'ed him yesterday and has very good stuff at an affordable price. I cannot wait for my "Banker" A.K.A Wife. to let me start spending more cash on my project.

When I get the Manifold I want I will let you all know how it went.

Thanks.

Cannot find to many tubulars for my 1G. There is more for newer gen's - Ebay I have found to have OEM new Parts a heck of a lot better price. Even the 3rd Party Parts Dorman, etc is more afforable.

I have used both ebay and one from the local advanced auto. To tell you the truth the ebay ones lasted longer and im still using them with no issues at all. Its been 10000 miles and just checked them and they are as tight as they were when I put them on. Just dont buy the super cheap ones they dont come powder coated black and rust fast. I have been buying this set. The uppers look cheaper then the stock ones due to they dont have metal tacked on the bottom of them but I have been using them with no isses either and this is the second dsm I have used them on.

Seems there is some information for you as what to use, and how some things hold up, lots of choices though, i like rock auto parts.

Lou98gsx, that's the way I always thought about a recall also. From what I've read here it's not the case with these cars. The senario goes, Mitsu sends out the recall notice ( I think ), the owner takes the car in, Dealer tech inspects the ball joints/arms and either replaces them or gives them the ok. At that point the recall has been satisfied and no further work will be done. I don't have any personal experience with this but have read quite a few threads here stating this. My opinion would be there is possibly some legal recourse for us owners but i don't really know.

i hav e a set of ebay lca's ready to install. compared to the ones from oreilly, which ive had great success with, they look almost identical. i dont think there will be a problem. im sidelined for a couple months due to engine failure but ill post back results on the ebay arms.

I didnt go with ebay stuff. I went to mitsubishiautoparts.com and got a knuckle kit for 79 buck east side, came with both lower arms and the nuckle. Then orderd the oem upper arm for i think like 85 a side. This was what was recommended to me when I buying the same things.

You guys realize that the part he posted on ebay is probably made by the same people that make parts for the autoparts chains/rockauto/etc.

Just because you purchased it on eBay does not automatically make it a lesser quality part ROFL:
