Who runs -2° front camber on their DD?

I've run as much as -3.5 on a DD street car with weekend warrior road race duty.

Wasn't a DSM though

-1.9° in the front
-3.1° in the rear

Daily driven 65 miles/day to work. My tires are barely 1k miles old, so we'll see how they handle it.

Jesus Christ. My rears can tolerate a tonne of camber in the rear without any abnormal wear, but -3 and beyond sounds pretty wild.

Does your car turn?

I'm running -2.2° in the front. Put 12k miles on it since then. Works fine on the street. I'd want a little more if I was running autox more seriously/frequently, but it's a nice compromise.

Thanks you guys.
So you don't think -2° is just asking for wear?
From 0-30k on these latest tires I've been running -1.5 up front and my outside edges are pretty much toast on the fronts.
I ran anywhere from -0.5 to -1.2 on the rear. The car was a slug with -1.2 camber in the rear but the tires seem to wear perfectly evenly in the rear. Lot's of outside edge, that's for sure.

Is there a consensus on what the max street threshold might be? ..Jaxness may already be testing out the limits in the rear for us.

I run around -2* in the front and about -1* in the rear for years - since 2000 perhaps ? Back when I had my 98 I covered around 30k/yr. Tyre wear has always been fine; I switch between summer and winter tyres on different rims, I don't think I ever went through more than one set of summer tyres per year.

I used to run 0 toe f+r, but these days I run a little toe out all around, which would probably increase wear, however I have an 8 mile commute these days, so tyre wear is not so critical - particularly with an average speed of around 20mph :)

Its not thats noticeable, to me atleast. Heres a shot of my rears, my mudflaps are perfectly straight & level.

Jax, not to be mean or anything, but why those values? Did you drop the car and just not have any camber correction?

Yea, lowered on Megan springs, no camber correction. I got it aligned, got rid of toe... And I just don't get camber wear. I'll pick up a DIY camber kit sooner or later though.

Camber wear is just concentrated toe wear.

EDIT:
Ok, not exactly. It's concentrated wear in general, but toe is often a major contributing factor.

Maybe I don't see much "camber wear" because I beat my car through corners frequently. I try to fully use the whole tire patch as often as possible. :)

I wasnt too worried about it with the shitty tires I was on. But now that I'm on new rubber I'll make correcting the camber a higher priority, LOL. Thanks for the virtual wake up call ;)

Running -2 or more is only really useful if you do a lot of hard cornering, which is going to hurt tire life anyway. My DD and track day toy wouldn't go much beyond 8K-10K miles on a set of tires, but it was even wear because i was constantly pushing it in corners.

If i was just cruising down the highway with -3.5 i would have been shortening the tire life for no reason

If you can get that down to -1 or so I'm betting you'll find the car much more happy to turn in.

I'd been planning to try -2 up front and -1 in the rear. Sounds good.

As said above by others, -2/-1 is absolutely no problem if you also run little or no toe. You can go higher, if you wish.

I would rub the s*** out of my tires with NO rear camber. And Im not even that low, LOL.

-2.5 front and -2.5 back. Back will soon be -1.5 after I make the rear lower control arm. But I do run 0 toe and don't have issues. Been running on new tires for a year as my daily driver.

Just thought I'd update.

Been running -3* front and -1.xx* in the rear for the last 25k or so. The result is fantastic grip up front, especially with +6* caster. I have no idea what my camber gets to be when under the curve but it must be huge with caster set like that.

The bad? I've worn into the wires a tad but it's no biggie since there's only 2/32's left on the outside. For the new tires (whenever that will be..) I will set it to -2.5* and leave it.

Was your toe zeroed out and camber was the only influence on the tire wear?
Toe was zeroed out and camber was the only influence on tire wear.
Driving habits are 45 miles on the highway 4-5 times a week with a 15 mile "spirited" drive on the weekend.

The car was aligned 3 times during this period, and even though I left the shop with zero toe I always had some when I would go back in. Not sure if it's them, the car, or if normal. :) Possibly all 3.
