Just got my LS1 out for rebuild. Is it easier or harder to pull engine from a DSM? Luckily 2 years now and no major issues with my gsx.

Front bumper returned back to shape and isn't noticeable. I was going to do the upper radiator support but I didn't know if it would be strong enough to hold.

Dude, that is scary, With my luck it would come down on me....

Note to those considering this with a DSM:

The radiator support will NOT support the weight, even with the engine and transmission out. It will bend quite a bit. Enough to contact the hood.

I did one on a Firebird and used the upper radiator support. Worked fine and it didn't bend. Kind of crazy how you have to pull the motor's out of the f-body's like that tho.

Definitely something I wouldn't do on a dsm. A lot easier to pull it out from the top on our cars anyways.

A DSM likely would work in this way if you removed the bumper cover and lifted from the bumper. I do not know though if the rear end would clear the ground.

im looking at this and thinking to my self why the hell are doing it like this? why dont you use the engine lift that you have and remove the engine from the top? why take the whole front suspension off?

On 93-2002 f-bodys this is the way GM says to do it. The blocks are aluminum and you have to buy a special plate that connects to the valley cover to pull from the top along with pulling tons of stuff and it is easier to remove it this way. To pull from the bottom takes 3-5 hours and only involves taking the driveshaft, torque arm, 2 brake lines, ecm, steering shaft, transmission mount, and 6 k-member bolts and out she comes. The only thing that is the trouble is getting the body high enough without a lift to pull it out. This way you can build the whole engine outside the car headers, wiring and everything and just go up.

can have a dsm engine+trans out in a few hours once you've done it enough times

and you dont have to do anything scary like that
