1. Make sure you bleed your lifters (3g revised or not)
2. Use some assembly lube on the valve stems before putting them threw the valve guides (dry guides will scar the stems)
3. Put some assembly lube on the cam journals before installing the cam caps
4. Use some lube on the valve keeps to aid in install (not needed but helpful in the tight area)

After finished I like to douse the whole valve terrain with fresh oil before installing the valve cover.

They make a valve spring compressor tool, so your able to keep the springs down and install the valve locks. I cant see how you could install them using that method, cause the deep socket is going to block the end of the valve. That's a good way to take everything out tho!!

For getting the keepers back on, if you haven't figured out a way yet, I used a piece of metal pipe and notched out a section of it to allow me to compress the spring and install the keeper at the same time. The above posts have good information regarding putting it all back together the only thing I would add is to also lap the new valves in.

My question is while reassembling (lifters, valve seals, valves, springs, retainers, cams), is there anything special I need to do or do I just slap the new parts in?

You need some sort of valve spring compressor in order to get the keepers back in. Unfortunately, it's probably something you'll have to order as the ones they sell in the stores usually don't work. You can also make one with a C-clamp and a socket.

I use one that looks like this (can't remember if it's the exact same one).

I used the homemade C-clamp socket method however I use a giant clamp that wraps around the entire head. Very simple and quick, well beside putting those keepers back in LOL

Thanks for all the help guys. I was just gonna start dropping stuff in. I got the autozone valve spring compressor. I'll give it a shot and hopefully dont hurt myself in the process (or my tv since I'm doing this work in my bedroom LOL)
