Well it appears we are losing one of the only (actually THE only) tracks that still held weekly "run whatcha brung" drag racing events in southern California. This is really discouraging to me :toobad:. I've met a lot of cool people and really enjoyed running my car at this track. I'm not even sure why I'm posting this up here as I doubt it's going to make any kind of a difference. I'm really starting to f*%king hate this state. If you get a chance, check out the FB page and try to help create some momentum for persuading potential new owners to reopen the 1/8th mile dragstrip.

Sorry to hear that. California is honestly retarded, they completely flip out over any type of racing and what not. YET they decide to close down all the strips around the area. We use to have one 20 minutes away from where I live. Now I have to drive 2-3 hours just to get to a track.

Cali is really dumb honestly.

my 3 cents.

Is it a owner issue or a city issue? With how strict they are on street racing it would seem like a unwise choice if the city has a hand it shutting them down. If they (owners) just cant afford the place maybe they will sell it to a party who wants to keep the track. I know the latter happened to one of my local tracks just recently (Tulsa Raceway Park). That track was supposed to become a quarry or something and some wealthy racers got together and bought the place so they could keep it open. Best of luck to ya!

No I don't think it's a city issue. Irwindale police used to actually hand out free passes when they pulled over people that appeared to be car enthusiasts in an effort to battle illegal street racing. I really hope the new owners get in there quickly and reopen this drag strip. It was my favorite local track to visit.

Dustin, don't forget the oval track also. Tony Sterwart was mentioned as a potential buyer, so maybe there's hope. Some of the best times I had was pit crewing for a Super Truck team @ Irwindale. Way more entertaining & competitive vs. the snore fest @ fontana....nascar wise.

Damn:cry:

Man, I fear this may become a trend, and it sucks. Seems like there are less people these days that play with race car stuff, so the number at the track keep falling. I see this happening with motocross tracks around too. Noone wants to do anything besides sit at home and watch tv anymore. The worst part, is once they are gone, they are usually gone for good. I know of only one track that was closed because the city was against it, that actually re-opened.

Anyway, I do my part by going to the tracks as often as I can. Even if we don't have anything to race, we should help keep the doors open by at least visiting the tracks as spectators.

Had the best/fun times at LACR, got closed 2007. Now this .. Cali is just Lame . They don't want any Street Racing and no Tracks..

I honestly don't think I'd have enjoyed my DSM as much if I lived in CA. Especially considering I used to street race. In WI I got listed as a habitual offender and got some 5 pt $600 tickets. I don't street race anymore. Haven't in years.

Damn that is sad to hear i hate seeing tracks go away!

There were or are always talks of Sacramento Raceway going away here as well as housing creeps closer and closer thanks god the owner and his family are drag racers :)

You could always move up here and live in the vallejo/fairfield area and have access to both Inifneon & Sac Raceway where they both have Wed. night drag racing ;)

They closed one of our favorite tracks in MO too...KCIR (Kansas City International Raceway) just a few months ago. ####ing local government. I am from MO. Sorry to hear folks. I feel your pain. :(

How about Buttonwillow? I Loved LACR, I used to drag at that track since i could drive in 1991, i do miss it, I remember the Old AIRA events, and the 2 mile lone "tech and inspect" line.
