Was getting ready to drop the head on the block when my dumb ass decided to lay it down on two blocks of wood. I guess, i forgot that it had valves sticking out as it was already put together by a local shop.

Anyways, a moment or so later i heard a slight clinging sound. Immediately realized what might have happened, i turned it upside down.

Everything lookes normal except one of the exhaust valves is not on the same level with the other one.

Below is the best picture i could take of it..

It's kind of hard to see in the pick, but one exhaust valve is slightly higher than the other one

Really need some help with this one. Like i mentioned earlier the shop build the head so as of right now i'm pretty clueless on how to go about checking everything and fixing it.

Could laying it down like i did have damaged any guides or anything else?

Thanks for all and any help!!

That clinging noise you heard was probably the camshaft rotating off the peak of a lobe. This happened because apparently you had valves sticking out which meant that the camshaft lobe was nearing or at it's peak. When you laid it down, the weight of the head pushed against piece of wood enough to move the valve which pushed the lobe off-center which then caused it to rotate and make that "clinging noise" Look for any physical signs of damage on the valve faces/margin.

Tried slightly knocking on the rockerarm, didn't seem to change anything. I'm going to try and take out the rocker arm or the whole cam, tomorrow. Have to leave the garage for today before i break something else..

Thanks for all feedback even the sarcastic one!

Spin the cam by hand and see if the valves get back in synch. It doesn't seem very likely to me that the weight of the head could damage the valves but strange things can happen.

Take out the entire cam like you said and see if they sit flush. If there is any doubt, pour some water into the exhaust port and see if it will leak out from the valve in question.

Thats what I would do
