Replacing the gaskets and im having an impossible time getting the cable off, i know there is some sort of notch to get it in but i dont know how far to turn what and what to pull on.

Push the butterfly open with your hand and then the cable will be free and it will slide out of the opening.

It doesnt just "slide out" ive tried everything i possibly can and this thing will NOT come free at all, i can move it around a little tiny bit with and open throttle but it wont come out

I've had my TB off a good... 20 times in the past few months working on a boost leak in the shaft seals. Just pull the butterfly like you're opening the throttle by hand, that'll losen the cable. It should roll around and fit into a notch, since it's loose, it should just about fall right out. You have to slide the little cylinder on the end of the cable out of it's "notch" it's sitting in, and that'll be it.

You may have a problem then, it might have somehow gotten crushed and it's holding. A properly functioning one is not difficult to remove though, You may want to see if you can take a good picture, otherwise, you may have to do some "uncrushing" to get that out.
 
you should be able to open the butterfly, or twist the throttle by hand. that creates slack in the "cable" then with that slack you can rotate the cable (on the end there is a metal solid cylinder running perpendicular to the "cable"). You are not twisting the cable to unwind it, you are rotating it about the cylinder in the end. at some certain angle, the wire will clear a section of the TB arm that is cut out and it will slide right out (it might be a little stuck, but it should come out unless someone welded it on :banghead: )

It might take a little wiggling or playing around to get it out. it really shouldn't be hard at all.

Have you ever removed a TB cable before?
 
I'm 16 LOL, i haven't done most things to a car...

K i got the cable out, now i cant get the cables on the right side of the TB to come off, its a red plug looking thing

K i got that off now, but there is a black box thing that connects to the afpr that is preventing me from pulling the TB off. And also the spring mechanism thing fell off the plug and is lost in the mass amount of space in my engine, will this be bad, and will i have to get a replacement?

You should probably read through the link Deadly Scone posted. It covers the entire disassembly. The only spring in the throttle body is what closes the butterfly, and it shouldn't have come off. Did you take off the nut holding the cable attachment on?

on a 2g TB, there is a position sensor on the front (relative to the whole car), that has a plug into it. There are also two coolant lines on the bottom of the TB to circulate coolant through it. These are the only things you should have to remove other than the battery, which may not even be necessary, the 2g engine bays may have some slight differences from my 1g that makes it possible to leave the battery in.

You absolutely need that spring or anything else you may have dropped.

That's the cruise control box. Are you trying to take the cable off the tb itself or in that box? I know getting the cables out of the box is a pain.
 
Take out one of the studs so you can swing the TB up to clear it.

+1 grab the top studs with some vice grips and unscrew it out of the intake manfiold. The the thrttole body should swing down clearing the cruise control box. If not, take the other stud out as well.

For futrue refference, you don't have to take the throttle cable off of the throttle body in order to get it off. If your just replacing the gaskets there is no need to take off the coolant lines either. :thumb:

These studs. They screw into the intake manifold. If you remove the top one, the throttle body will swing down and clear the cruise control. If you have a good pair of vice grips it would only take a minute or two.
 
Just put everything back together before you do some serious damage to your throttle cable. My adv ice would be to either print out a diy with pictures and bring that out to the garage with you and follow it step by step. Or take it to a mechanic. This really shouldnt be too dificult.
 
There are 3 10mm head bolts that hold the cruise control box. In the time that it took you to log in and take the picture you could of just unbolted the box and set it aside. It literally takes 1 minute.
