Ive got a 1998 Eclipse GS and Im looking to get an exhaust to get a few more hp's out of my ride. I dont want to look like all the r*ce burners out there with my coffee can exhaust but I want a deep sound. Any suggestions? Ive read that Thermal R&D is the way to go but I want to reassure it. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks a billion.

If you have money I'd say a Greddy WS2 or an Apexi n1. I have had the Apexi on every dsm I've owned and it sounds AWESOME! My buddy in Idaho has the ws2 on his talon and it sounds sick too. the WS2 is a little louder and has more of a hollow sound. The n1 has a clean throaty sound

Not greddy....those are bothapexi's sorry

I recently got an SR*S off ebay for $200 w/ shipping because I have a nasty exhaust leak. I'm a firm believer you pay for what you get, however, it's full stainless and I heard a couple good things about it even though it's an Ebay exhaust; I decided to gamble on it. I just didn't have the $600 after shipping and everything to plop down on a Thermal R&D. I'm just waiting for it to come in the mail and install, then I can let you know how it turns out.

If you have the money though, it sounds like Thermal R&D is the way to go from the general consensus.

<3 my GReddy exhaust. I paid a pretty penny for it, but I got what I paid for.

Does Thermal even make a cat back for the NT?
I ran an Apex-i system on my old RS. Embarrassing rasp.

Im running a really cheap ebay setup. Headers, cat, and some knock off pipes it sounds just as good as my friend how has a 600$ greddy. Really in my opinion a pipe is a pipe. I got my full setup for 150$ shipped header and pipe it is all stainless as well and after 4 years of driving still looks the way it did when I get it. It is all on you all you get when you buy greddy or any other name is the name. That is just my 2 cents tho.

I would suggest going with a local exhaust shop. I got a full 3 inch exhaust for around 400 dollars built and installed. It sounds good and if there are any problems I know exactly where I can find the guy.

Whenever I had my old RS I had a Magnaflow muffler/tip combo, it sounded a lot better than my friends Megan exhaust. It's hard to describe, but it was a lot deeper and not cracky at all. This may sound dumb, but at higher rpm's it almost sounded like a V12 inside of the car.

If you are doing it for a few more horse power you aren't going to notice a difference at all.

If you are going to waste money on little gains at least do a air box around a air intake, it's much cheaper and will give you a bigger gain than a exhaust. You might gain 4-5 whp and it wont really be noticeable at all. It's not like your 420a's exhaust is being restrictive in any way.

If you are just going for looks, sound and E-peen then I can understand why you'd want one.
