Hello Tuners!

First off, I'd like to apologize if I'm posting this in the incorrect forum section. I am asking for suggestions and opinions, but will be using any information gathered here along with this post as an introduction to my build journal, also for the extremely wordy and long post. While some of you (if not most) already know me as the annoying new guy that never learns anything and "wants" to be spoon fed LOL, I've actually been doing my homework in regards to how I want to upgrade my vehicle. There's a lot of inspiration to be had in this forum. And hearing about results is even more heartening into trying to get my Ireland back up and running. My goal is to reach 400-450awhp on 93, as a DD for now, but probably have plans to track it. I do not have an immediate budget, but I have no limit as to what I'll invest for my enjoyment. The following is what I would like to get assuming I have all stock internals. Since I don't know how to differentiate I guess when I part off, I'll notice LOL. I am providing pics of the engine bay and etc, if you notice a part please inform me so I can make the adjustments accordingly.

Upgrades to 450 –

Walboro 255, FIC 850CC, Aeromotive AFPR : The MAP 500whp Fuel System - Modern Automotive Performance = $774.99 (I was told I have aftermarket rails.. so I don't know what else to upgrade for the increase regarding fueling needs)

Mishimoto X-line Radiator (my stock one is wrecked) : Mitsubishi Eclipse X-Line Performance Aluminum Radiator 1995-1999 Turbo, by Mishimoto = $440.00

VRSF 2g FMIC : _p_VRSF 2G FMIC Front Mount Intercooler Kit : 95-99 Eclipse & Talon Turbo 2G = $289.99

Act2600, Street Disk : EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts = $445.43

Fidanza Lightweight Flywheel : EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts = $184.95

OR

ACT Streetlite Flywheel : EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts = $255.99

(Which would be better?)

STOCK INTERNAL REBUILD but may upgrade to HKS272 for a higher RPM band and better sound(huh? I read somewhere that camshafts affect sound of engine but can't find it again :/). Matched with upgraded Valve springs also by HKS, and would like to change valves themselves (suggestions please, or is the whole valve overhaul not needed?) I also looked at how to make the 7-bolt better as far as reliability. I want to push 450ish max but I also want to make sure that it won't mess up on me when I've got the need for speed. Would rebuilding with 1g rods and 2g piston heads give me a more solid block? Maintaining the 2.0L?

ARP Headstuds : EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts = $99.99

And a complete overhaul for gaskets that withstand much more HP than what I'm looking for, so that failures are least likely. My idea is to overshoot preparation so that I do not have to worry about meeting a threshold. Rather I can be comfortable in 450 and know that whatever I do as a good driver, it won't piss out on me. Cometic? Suggestions here too please, I understand I have to machine my blocks.

Jackson Auto Machine Gasket Set : Cometic MLS Engine Gkt Kit,+500whp 7 bolt = $278.50

For drive I keep hearing how a TRE stage 3/4 would be overkill for this amount of HP. Transmission wise, I do not mind this because I know I wouldn't be stressing the case and gears out by shifting at 6k ish RPM. I currently have a seized front passenger axle. Moving up into these

Driveshaft Shop AWD Front Axles : EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts = $719.00

Driveshaft Shop AWD Rear Axles : EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts = $674.99

To my understanding, I won't have to remove my ABS with these axles. Once again suggestions please. Also looking to get a big brake kit for DD. I remember seeing Wilwood ones for about 2.4k the set, But I can't remember where. I have checked MAPerformance, Extremepsi, RRE and the likes.

And as for turbo, I'm completely lost as well. I tried the thread found in turbo tech but I can't seem to get my grasp on it. I'm currently at 17psi with my stock turbo, but I wouldn't want to run any more than 25-30 psi. Which turbo is best at that range? Without being stressed. Intakes? Please help me here. And as for exhaust, I have some apexi 2.5' that I have no education on. But I would like to upgrade to the best 3' sleeper type exhaust kit. Which wideband gauge should I invest into? I currently have a narrow band.

To be honest I don't know much about Arms and such, I'm still looking that up, but I do have play in one of my front ones, I also will be replacing the ball joints to be on the safe side.. I have Tokico Illumina adjustable suspension kit that can do for now. At Collision (On Dec 18th I slide on black ice while omw home on the highway) my Power Steering hose bent up. What's the deal with the MR2 replacement, Should I worry about this? Last but not least, based on my ECU case, I do not have an EPROM Chip. I have model number MD321911. I would open up the case but it is too dark out and cold for me to get in there properly with no rush. So of course...

ECMLink V3 Package w/ ECU : ECMTuning, Inc. = $545.00 + $245.00

Please bare with me as this will be my first attempt at servicing a vehicle at all. I KNOW I will get frustrated and break things, so I'm preparing for the worst, but I hope that with guidance from my family here (as DSMers) It'll make the ride much smoother than not. Thank you in advance, I look forward to the input. Plethora of pictures included to further help us both out.

Lets see,
fmic
wideband
tuning device link is good
upgraded pistons rods
drivetrain clutch
Hx 35
exhaust
injectors link go big as you can
850ccs
this is just a start

Their should be a thread titled...."300-500hp "builds" post here". At least once a week you see one of these and than you dont hear anything else from them. If your serious do some research. Look at other members builds and see what they did to reach their goals. Thats my advice

If your just looking for 450-500ish i would say 2g pistons and 1g rods would be find, but if you are looking for more or even think you may want more in the future I would go eagle and wiesco.

definitely make sure you get a wideband, very important to tuning your car correctly.

Ecmlink
wideband
hx35 or hx40 turbo of your choice or
FP30 turbo of your choice
1000cc injectors
walbro 255 fuel pump
ETS FMIC
External wastegate setup
But I would do all this after all maintance and a built motor, also assuming your transmision can support the 450hp.

I understand that there are many 300-500 build threads out there. I'm not saying I'm not one of them, But I've already got a vision of where I want to go, and have a good amount of the upgrades already decided on. I ask for suggestion and opinions because more brains and experience are better than one. So maybe someone can help me weed out the bad, or get something better like 92turbo suggested better rod and pistons. I'm on this site close to the whole day just reading stuff some times. Not all cars will work the same. Everyone knows that these things are anomalies. So what can work for one may not work for another. As for not hearing from me when I'm through its because i'll be too busy driving my Ireland around, and if I'm not. Then I'll be here. Trust me. :D

Well you have a good start keep reading and researching and youll find out what fits your needs, budget, and so forth. Lots of vendors to help you here, and plenty of threads.

1000cc injectors, and ditch the stock fuel filter. You'll need about 55lbs of air to comfortably get there on 93 octane. It can be done with less, but it's better to push a little more air and keep the tune safer to make the same power.

A good FMIC is crucial on pump gas. Garrett cores are strongly recommended, this isn't a place to cheap out.

I'd also skip that cometic gasket and use a Mitsu gasket or a better MLS. Cometics aren't that great, there are better options out there.

Hows your mpg? I agree with the 55lbs. So vrsf is the gray brand between the black of cheap and white of quality?

Somewhat. For 55 lbs/min or more airflow you need to be looking for a good quality 3.5 inch deep intercooler. The punishment racing drag kit is perfect for it. You have to call and ask about it.

Save your money and don't buy rhe axles. Stock ones will be fine

My main reason is to further kill off the possibility of breaking an axle. I also have a seized one in my tcase. ay around 75+ i get bad vibrations on my steering wheel which i tend to blame the axles for.

Just replace them as they brake then. Im guessing you wanna run 11's? Plenty of people run low 9's on stock ones with no problems.

Low 20s realistically. I like to play around.

I could do better but i don't really care about MPG in the talon. This car is about smiles per gallon for me.

BTW, Look into ETS intercoolers if you have the scratch. Top notch product.
