the story of how I got a free 99 GSX and $600 also picture questions

So about a week ago I test drove my friends 99 Eclipse GSX (auto) and I liked it but we had conflicting schedules so we could only do a title transfer on Sunday. Well he lives near a guy that would do it on Sunday and he is cheap. I meet up with him and we drive off to this guys place and pull in, once we were out of the cars, we see the garage door opening figuring it was the guy to greet us, NOT instead it was the guys wife in a big SUV backing up really fast. You can see where this story is going already, so she hit the passenger fender and sorta messed up the lower side skirt. All I could think was shit I dont want it now

. But I did buy. Few days ago the state farm estimator stopped by and quoted me $1,600

I thought I was going to have a heart attack!! I got a free car and I can fix the problem myself. Soo there is my story and here is the weekend that I finally got to know my DSM. Honestly I feel right at home only because I own an Audi A4 1.8t so different layout, same concept I guess.

however if you didnt read the story no biggie here are my Q's

Since I am an Audi owner I gotta ask this question is sludge a problem with this car? I saw that tiny oil filter and I was like

my audi has a an oil filter fit for a truck!

So you paid 600, or 1000, but because of the damage you really got a free 99 gsx?

Seems like an obd port to me. I might be wrong. Does it look like someone installed it there or does it look more like something it came from factory?

Sludge??? Ummm it all depends on the oil that you put in it.

4G63's do not have sludge problems. Ever.

Why? Because unlike Toyota, Honda, and Volkswagen, Mitsubishi engineers actually knew what they were doing when they designed the EGR system on our engine.

Its not an OBD2 port. OBD2 has 16 pins. It looks to be some sort of kill switch. Why not ask your friend ?

I only paid $1000 for the car, and I should be getting a $1600 check soon. I asked my friend he had no clue either because it was from a previous owner, I know its not an OBD2 port I found that already. But it looks like its connected to a relay? idk brb I will take a better picture.

4G63's do not have sludge problems. Ever.

well that is good to know =D, I really hate seafoaming my crankcase before every oil change just in case and using VW 502 approved oil.....grrrr

So just to be clear, you paid $1000 but got hit so you will now be getting a $1600 check from the agency?

The title says $600 but you wrote $1600 in the story..... :hmm:

Either way, use that money and fix that GSX's body. Dont squander it on parts.

I paid $1100 for my current one, $800 for the Previous one (traded a 94 mercury cougar i bought for $800) & $500 for the one before that (traded 87 Mercedes 300E I paid $500 for).....Come to Phoenix.. LOL

yeah car cost $1000, state farm estimated $1600, so basically free car + $600

That connector is for the key silencer. Basically i have one put it in and my car starts but without one you cant start the car. Its factory installed

well I really got to know my dsm today by cleaning up under the hood, looks like CRC Brake Kleen, Wire Brush and rags are going to be my friends for a while.

, I remember when I got my 1991 GST.

Traded a 2001 Mercury cougar that I bought for $800 off a friend for it.

2 months later, a guy hit it and ripped the bumper off.
Insurance said it was a TOTAL LOSS.
I had it fixed the next day in less then 2 hours. Cost $20.
They called me, Said they offered around $`1500.00 for it,.
I bought it back for $212.00

So I pocketed 1280 or so dollars from the whole thing.
I then sold the eclipse for around a $1000 to a member on here, cause it didnt want to start cause of a sensor problem.

I also got a rental car for 2 weeks, and put 5000 miles on it.
