Neat stuff. Funny thing for me is somebody showed a gold keychain and hat pin set. I'm the guy that sold those way back in 1998. I forgot to save myself an extra set out of the 100 I had also. I still have a denim button down with the eagle logo. I'll have to go dig it out and get some pictures. I have drawers full of stuff also over the last 20 years.

Whelp, I'm just about at 2 weeks before my move so I'm gonna toss up some stuff. Hope you all enjoy and that you see some stuff you haven't before. Watch for a few more posts over the next couple weeks. And we all thought Buschur had the first RWD 1G....! Some cool Archer stuff.....and, the Rossi teaser I promised.

And at the bottom that's the original front plate bracket from my Talon. It was given to me in a box when I bought the car in '96. Looks like it was bolted to the front bumper for delivery, and then immediately removed. Just thought I'd share.

Awesome stuff Phil. Love the shot of the Mopar Performance Talon. The Rossi stuff is great. Hope all goes well with the move.

Scanned another article in. This article was written after the the consumer focus group was held displaying the new line up of DSM models.

The crazy thing in this article states that 4 models were displayed, test driven and reviewed.

1. 1.8 liter NA - Least expensive model
2. 2.0 liter NA 4cyl. - Upscale model
3. 3.0 liter V6 NA - Luxury model
4. 2.0 Liter Turbo - Sport Model

Now that "luxury model" V6 powered H24S 1G must be a Unicorn.

Glad you like!

The same car from the cover of the 1987 Autoweek. Is this one from Popular Mechanics?

Some more rare stuff..

Yes, this is a killer article on Rossi's Pikes Peak efforts....

The rarest thing I have is a dinner plate from the grand opening dinner held November 10, 1988. I sent it out to some of the most well known DSMers and had it signed.

That plate is interesting. I have a plate very similar to that from 2009 commemorating the 3 Millionth vehicle produced.

MindBlowin03, how did you get your plate?

Ha! I remember that issue of turbo. I think I have it in storage.

Glad you like!

Yes it sure is, April 88 . Here is a link to my scan, not just an attachment. I know you like the high res. stuff.

Few more scans for today. This is some Mitsubishi HSR Galant stuff and how it directly ties to the 1G.

The Research and Development from the HSR Galant led to the production of the E39A Galant VR4 Platform which is the donor platform for the D27A 1G.

It was the test bed for the DOHC 4G63 engine, Independent suspension, four-wheel drive, four-wheel steering,
And active shock control. All which went into the E39A Galant VR4.

So a shorter wheel base version of this is what went into the D27A 1Gs. Albeit minus the four-wheel steering and active shock control.

Design cues from the Chrysler Pacifica Design Studio were incorporated into both vehicles. Mitsu says it was a collaborative effort, but Chrysler claims it's their design.
I actually like the HSR Galant alot better than the HSR II.
It's a machine well before it's time.
I'd love to know how much power it took out of the 4G63 to get that car to 200 mph. I bet it's less than we think with that aero.....
Not much power at all. The car hit over 200mph.
HSR Galant Specs:
Engine
Horizontal Type Water-cooled DOHC 2.0L four-cylinder engine
Turbo supercharger with intercooler
Maximum output (kW (PS) / rpm) 217 (295) / 8000
Maximum torque (N • m (kg-m) / rpm) 330 (33.7) / 5000
4WD drive system
4WS
LSD
Tires F/R 215/45ZR17
Gasoline Fuel
Suspension Front: double wishbone suspension active formula
Active suspension trailing arm suspension formula after
Device type brake booster
4-wheel anti-skid braking force control device form (1 sensor 2 channels)
Cruise control

I have to take a minute to say "Thank You" for scanning and posting all this stuff. I've been a big DSM dork since I got my first one as a "hand-me-down" from my sister when I was 16, the better part of a decade ago. It's nice to see all the advertisements, tech articles, promos, etc. and makes me wish I was able to buy my 1G from new, when all of this was going on.

I have to take a minute to say "Thank You" for scanning and posting all this stuff.

My pleasure. I know most of us who have been in the game for 20+years enjoy this stuff too. We all have bits and pieces of the DSM journey like a jigsaw puzzle. And all the articles, ads, newspapers, books and memorabilia paint a picture of it all. I actually feel like its an obligation to pass it on. Because, I know some of the stuff may be gone and lost forever if we dont pass it on to the next up and coming group. :thumb:

Here is another scan from the late 80's. This is for the 1989 Laser. I know we have alot of Laser die-hards amongst us. This one is a good read. They also mention how the turbo laser with no AC weighed in at 2660.

Cool how they say it is the hottest plymouth since the 340 Duster.

They also say it was as fast in their test as the '88 Saleen Mustang.

This is a cool article. I'm pretty sure I've got this one packed away still intact in the magazine.....I can't remember if its from an old Car Craft or Popular Hot Rodding maybe?

I love the Laser's.....in certain ways more than the Talon TSi. It's just so stealthy. I can remember the look on guys faces driving 350z, Audi S4, Porsche Boxster S etc. after they got murdered by my Laser with steel wheels and hubcaps on highway rolls......had alot of fun in my Laser.

A bit more Paul Rossi stuff.....

I would also like to say thanks to all the guys for scanning the old articles, ads, etc. I just did a handful today and it does take time.

Well, I promised Phil I would upload some stuff and share it out. Hope that are not duplicates already.

Nice!!! The Goodyear ad is one of my personal favs......

The Eagle/Archer ads are great.....

Only two doubles it looks like to me, "broken record" and BF ad with Rossi Talon, but doesn't matter, awesome to see this stuff time and time again.....

I have a like new 1990 eagle talon brouchure and Chrysler press kit with full contact info and slides.

I have this mag a work currently, so dont know the month right off hand but it is a Car Craft article. I know you are fond of the Laser's so I have been trying to scan those in as best as possible.

You have some real good road race stuff.

The Goodyear article was a staple of many early mags. Good post.

Your 90 Talon brochure is a sweet piece for sure, incredible condition. thanks for sharing.

Just a couple quick pics of some of my old japanese articles. I'll scan them in higher quality when I get some time.

1. July 1990, article entitled "Unique Car", debut of the Gullwing Eclipse GSR4
2. January 1990, article to debut the GSR4. Funny to see the article say"New Import Car"

Real nice '90 Talon brochure! I've got some of the '95 Press kits around however I don't think mine list "World Challenge" on the cover. This might be a VERY RARE piece. Nice!

No biggie.....if you can find the year/month that would be awesome. Yes, for whatever reason, I do love the 90-91 Laser's basic stealth look. I've had two of them....and plan to get another one someday.

Thanks, I do have quite a bit of race stuff. I still have some uploaded that I can toss up. And once I'm settled, I'll organize and start to post it up, hopefully with a working scanner! However, some of my stuff I'll have to use digi pics b/c it's not all pulled out of the publications and can't be laid flat.

The brochures you have from Japan are just nuts, I never knew the market was that hot for an "import." Really cool stuff though. Love the R32 at the bottom too!

BAD ASS! Eagle stuff flooding this page full of win!!! thanks guys for scanning all of that!

No sweat, glad you're enjoying it. Please stop by frequently as I'm sure many of us will have added new things. I'm hoping we can get some more activity here and hope to see some new and rare things!

When I was a kid, I wanted a turbo quattro coupe. Wasnt going to happen. Along comes DSM. Life is good.

First pic is me swapping my original exhaust mani out in favor of the ported 2G unit......circa summer '98. A few more pics of Paul Rossi Talons, enjoy!

Here we go:

Phil, the date for the Laser/Duster article scanned above is Car Craft February 1989. I have known you have had a thing for the laser over the years.

Their is a suprisingly large group of DSM followers in Japan. There are regional clubs much like the states. We even have a annual Mitsu get together much like the stateside MOD. Its called MMF Owners Day-(Mitsubishi Motors Fan). Here is a link to the site that keeps us posted of the meets and reports on past meets.
MMF Owners Schedule(Japanese only)

I think I even have some old pictures of your car from Extreme. I had got my Big Brake kit from there back in the day. I'll look through some of my old photos. Think I have some of my first mods.

Rossi Stuff killer as usual. Seems like you had an in on the team. :)

Few more scans.
Road & Track, December 1988-Seems like the orginal focus group determined the car was going to sell best to women.

That article with the Eclipse and Laser is one of my favs. I love the shot of the two cars up in the hills around LA.

That's awesome that the folks in Japan loved the DSMs. Really cool that on the other side of the world they desire imports just as we do.

Now that you mention Extreme, I might have some shots uploaded of my car during that time...I'll check.

Yes, I WAS part of the Rossi Team back in the day :) Yeah...I wish!

And so, here's one for today...the Pacific ad with the Eclipse...1/30:

Here's some cool stuff that I'm fairly certain most haven't seen including the start of some of the support races at Sebring in 1990 with the Eclipse pace car on pit road in the backround... enjoy...1/31:
