how do they sound? i had some power acoustik tens and they was like 1200-1600 rms a piece cant remember exactly but they put my boys fosgates to shame i could sit be side him and drown his subs out and thats standing between both cars haha i wouldnt mind geting those again but i cant find them NO where.. i messed em up by letting them hit too hard for too long at a party one night but still have my slot ported box tho...

Its hard to pick speakers best bet is to hear some first before you buy them, thats what i did a the audio shop here when jl came out, and ppi.

Go with JL. I have JL subs in both of my cars and I have tried Infinity, Pioneer, and Kicker and I always come back to JL. Right now I have one JL W7 13.5 in my GS300 and its super clear and when I turn it up its louder than anything Ive heard outside of competion stuff. I have a 12 W7 in my GST and when I turn it up loud I can literally see the rear fenders bang out with the bass, its crazy. And JL has the best warranty for their stuff. Go with JL!

The two tens i have sound really good so far. Have to do a little tweaking with the stereo due to it being a cheap sony which imo pits out too much bass to all outputs even with them turned down.

I have this sick double-din stereo with an infinity system. The screen glows orange at night. Plus, if the day comes where people start stealing tape decks again, it wont work without this code I wrote on it. The crackles it makes when the antenna won't rise kicks in some serious highs man. Just don't try to adjust the balance or fade. The knobs fall off.

LOL I bet its sick haha, But as for the turbo this is my DD my only way to work so i cant afford no down time, But im pretty sure im going with the JL's I have never heard them in person but looked on you tube and im pretty impressed from what i seen.. my dad had some w2's back in about 2000 in his 87 monte carlo ss they hit hard but its prob not gonna hit nothing like 2 w7's in a hatch

Im not sure what they were exactly but my sister had a set of JL 12's in her Jetta, hooked up to maybe a 1000 watt amp.. Im a big guy and those things hurt my chest. If your looking for bump, thats the way I would go. Oh, and when you get it installed, do yourself a favor and play BassCannon by Flux Pavilion through it. Just make sure the windows are down... :)

If you're from NC, I have a friend in SC who is huge in stereos. He designed a few systems and has won awards for it. This guy actually shakes grounds. I can get you in touch with him if you want designing info. He goes deeper than just speaker size and type. He even deals with the layout of the interior for best sounds. PM me if you want some information.

stay away from main stream subs they suck get sundown audio or dc sound lab or acendent audio or fi audio get the good stuff not the shit they sell in evey store

Some main strem stuff isn't so bad. Old school MTX and the JL W7s sound quite good, but in general, I agree with you. Its the same for home theater, the non "big-box" store stuff usually sounds better.

JL, or MTX is the only way to go really and JL amp, and Rockford amps are under rated as to what they really put out, also if you really want a clean sound a head unit(radio) that has 5v pre outs or better with front rear and sub on seperate preouts Kenwood radios are my favorite brand for head units, they almost always have head units that have seperate 5v preouts and they are so simple even a caveman can do it, also alpine head units come in a stron second place (for me).

if you go with MTX the thunder 9500 is a monster on competative level with the JL W7. and 1 Will do with either one of those subs. they are both huge!! but you will also need a large output amplifier as well for them.

and in third place for me is the rockford power t3 also only will need one and a large output amplifier, hope this helps out some.

im sure everyone on here is gonna be pretty biased about this. really, just go with what you know. Obviously JL's are never a bad choice. If you dont wanna spend your entire tax refund on audio check out Volfenhag. I like em alot. Search them on ebay and its the cheapest thing you can find, plus they're good quality. Not the best of course, but good strong sound.

alpine type r in a ported box. plus upgrade your speakers if you haven't already. check out your local craigslist but test out the speakers or sub before you buy them LOL
