I'm fairly new to the dsm scene, and would love some feed back from you die hards.
I have about 600$ to spend on the car this week.:shhh:(dont tell the wifey)
I was leaning to a FP manifoldhttp://store.forcedperformance.net/PROD/EMFPRace.html
and a new shinney dump pipe.
Or a SS intake manifold. (little knowledge on this)
But i thought to myself,.....I could use a DSM link to help me tune.(cause it needs it). But I am a bit iffy on the link system due to my lack of experience.
I am open to any intelligent sudgestions on what I should be doning here.
Thank you in advance.

I saw a lot of people saying to get DSMLink V3 full rather than lite but I suggest reading the comparison and seeing if you think you need the extra options. prodcompare [ECMTuning - wiki] I went V3 lite and am also on speed density, now there are some nice features in the full version but for now I'm just fine without them. Check it out for yourself and see if you want to spend the extra money or put it towards a speed density package if you want to go that route.

I would ditch the stock 1g maf, even the 2g maf will be superior but speed density or gm maf is a better option.

I have never even heard of a speed density untill today? Is this an expensive set up?
And I am looking for 20-25 psi, do i need to upgrade the maf?

I hear ya, put $ where needed. What kinda psi you running? Im looking into SD, just havent heard much about it.

If you get ecmlink you can just get the speed density setup for it and ditch all maf crap.It wont cost much more to tie it in with dsmlink.

Nah not really some sensors look on the ecmtuning page.

To run 20-25 psi you will need bigger injectors and with ecmlink I would just get 100cc injectors they idle perfect and good for pump gas but still can give you option to run E85 if want to run 25 psi on a 16g.Also I would sell your 190 and get a 255 fuel pump.

sorry, I dont understand you.

255 pump. No prob.
100cc?? must be a type-o

1000cc :p Had my 14b at 15 psi with 550cc injectors and they where at 70% injector duty cycle so.Max pump gas injectors 1000cc wich is good for race gas and E85.Anything bigger then 1000cc is for like 600+whp.

I am only looking for 20-25 psi. jumping almost double the size injectors seems over kill? Correct me if I am wrong? I am new. 750's would bring 30 psi, no? And I'm running premium gas. 91 oct

You said is it cheap? i would look on the website for sensors, and information for speed density.

Just simple to get the 1000cc injectors and save the money that way you won't have to waste money upgrading in the future. My friend runs 20psi evo 2 16g with 1000cc at 54% injector duty cycle. But 750cc would sufice sure but if you get ecmlink just get the 1000cc injectors. You will see after 20psi things change.

Get what you need you, can always get different injectors, depends on your pocket book if the money is there fine, if not you can always sell injectors, lots of buyers out there.

True that but he only has 550cc injectors and there not ganna give him any leniency for his setup.Just want to make sure he does it right once and is happy.:thumb: Sell the 550cc and get bigger but you can only get bigger if your have something to tune with aka ecmlink.Really the tuning software is your platform for power.I regreat not getting it as my first upgrade to my dsm.

I have the same turbo, fuel pump as the op and Ive ran 24 psi on 550's with a safc and had no problems.

Did you log it to be sure it was running fine?Sure it seemed fine but I am sure other people would like to have the isurance.Sure you can run your setup like that, but doesn't mean it the best way to go about it.

Awesome and awesome guys.
So I am going to keep the 550's, and get the ecmlink. Max those out. From there, I'll get 1000cc injectors, and figure out a maf. This is my DD. So I cannot go too too big until I pick up another DSM.

I'm going to read up on the SD (speed density). Unless someone want to chime in on this 18 page one day do it all thread. (thanks to all)

Simple way I can explain SD is it is reading air intake pressure without the use of a maf. It's gives you a wider range of tuning a/r ratios good idle air and is just that much better to fine tune your care when making horsepower.Plus it really cleans up the engine bay.:thumb:

From what im gathering, its two sensors? One on the Intake mani, and one after the TB before BOV?
and this enables you to run no stock maft? straight intake pipe to turbo? with no recirculation?

And...I am looking at the SD bundle from,
http://www.ecmtuning.com/product_info.php?cPath=28&products_id=50&osCsid=fhcgar68d5ejjqn82lvgbtfrd1
and the programs (leaning towards the light)(only 600$ to spend)

Am I okay with just this for now?

Sorry if i missed it, but do you have an eprom ecu? They run about $150 if not. Just something else to consider in the budget.

Also to further complicate things, since your considering running SD and your a 1g, you could run Jackal. That software is $20.

Here's a how-to on the Jackal install
Complete How-To

Its probably going to start a heated debate. It always does. But i run Jackal personally and love how easy it is to use.

Id say get v3 full, a 4bar MAP, GM IAT, and LC-1 wideband..

you'll need the wideband to tune, but the MAP and IAT will give you the ability to go SD, which is infinitely easier to tune.

And yes, put a MAP sensor in the intake manifold, and a GM IAT in the upper intercooler pipe before the BOV. This will allow you to eliminate the MAF completely.

I do not have a eprom.....can I not run a link with a stock ecu? And as far as Jackel goes... I think one step at a time. I am spending 600+ dollars on the SD stuff and the V3 lite.

will my auto meter digital wideband gauge not work?

Yes you do need an eprom ecu. You can send your non eprom to link and they can convert it for you. I think they even have a package deal for that.

Well, thats what i mean. You could run Jackal instead of link if you wanted.
