Hey guys Im buying a 1997 Gst tomorrow morning thats completely unmolested :). It has 134XXX miles on it and a rebuilt tranny with 20 miles on it. I was wondering what I should start upgrading on it first, or if anyone has a list of things I can do and what parts are best and could let me know that would be awesome and grately appreciated :hellyeah:

MJcanada, bit of a thread jack but.... what you do first to your car is up to you and your preference. Here are some of my opinions on some of your questions:

Wideband: Innovate LC-1
Tuning: Yes get DSMLink (ECMLink same thing)
Brakes: The best that you can afford to get and fit your wheel of choice
FMIC: First I would read about the differences between bar and plate vs. tube and fin then make a decision on which you would like and search for a good quality built piece.

As for identifying your engine I'm not sure but I would get the serial number and start by calling a Mitsubishi dealership and seeing if they can look it up.

Yea I know sorry about that but I was thinking it'd be better than starting a new thread about the same exact question. Appreciate the info though:thumb: First time I've heard about bar and plate :hmm: I'll check into that thanks.

ECMLINK AND MAINTANANCE FIRST!Everything after that is pleasure. Front mount intercooler w/ bov, 1000cc injectors, walbro 255 fuel pump and whatever turbo your pocket allows your to afford.

Just weld on a huge turbo and then get a MBC (manual boost controller) and you are set, homie. 4G63's are just like the 2jz, you don't need supporting mods with these things, they will hold up under any circumstance. :rocks:

I cant choose an exhaust LOL. I want to run a 3" straight pipe, with a (machined?) blue tip. And I dont no what fuel pump I should upgrade too. Im not planning on throwing a bunch of parts all in it, thatll ###### be during summer but Im trying to make a list out so I can start saving for everything....

Clean looking car you have there and I'm happy to finally see the photos. :applause: As for exhaust it's pretty much pick whatever one you think sounds best. For fueling I recommend a Walbro 255 and rewire it, also pick up an adjustable fuel pressure regulator to go with it. Some say you'll be fine with the stock FPR others say you need an aftermarket one to support the extra fuel so do your research but I'd pick one up.

thats the problem with the exhaust, I cant hear them all LOL. there not all on youtube which kinda blows haha.. and alright Ill start looking into those too

but yeah everything down to the floor mats is all original. the interior doesnt have any stains or anythings, its incredible looks like my parents or I would of owned it since 97 LOL, except we never would of let the door dings stay, or the rust start LOL

In the matter of a couple hours he'll be sitting in my driveway, while his girlfriend stays in the heated garage.( such a gentlemen) LOL.

Yay its its my driveway its in my driveway :). But the roads are but the roads are nasty so I have to wait till sunday to go have fun in it :(

I hate to say it, but that little bit of surface rust is definitely a hole. The strut towers rust from the back side and so does pretty much any other body panel. Car looks clean in the pictures though!

1. maintenance ngk BPR6ES spark plugs, Royal purple 10w-40 oil change and filter and Royal Purple trans fluid, new OEM pcv valve, check timing slack and tension, check for leaks of all kind.

2. suspension & steering - gain control before power. if it your first turbo car you'll definitely need to get used to the bull saddle before you advance lowering and new shocks will help.

3. Light Bolt ons mods- after the bull is tamed put him on some steroids new turbo and get rid of the restrictive airbox, supporting mods will reignite some spirited driving and your love or the car.

4. DEFINITELY CHECK OUT THE TECH SECTION- this is one of the most resourceful active dsm communities out there so use the search button before you ask, chances are it has been answered before.

5. DEINITELY KEEP IT CLASSY- NO BODYKITS i personally think they distort the 2g roundness and the are just plain ugly.... Lets watch Brian O'conner at the movies people.

it might sound cliche but "With great power comes Great responsibility" in every aspect of the statement!!!!!!!

After maintenance best bet is to get a boost gauge and a manual boost controller to get a feel as to what your car can put out stock. Then from there start upgrading depending on your HP goals. Set a goal and find the best way to get there on your budget :D

Alright thanks guy and hey dallas r u serious? because if you are im down for that. And what about your rear wheel wells?

And idkiliketurbos. It isnt a hole yet its just surface for the most I might sand it down today and spray for right now to kin of help. The only hole is in the rear wheel well. And these are the only two places, the rest of the car is clean underneath and above

Alright do you guys think $64 for a 1G uncrushed bov is a good price? thats inluding shipping
