Im not really looking quite yet because theres no point but after ait i will have roughly 5k to spend on one plus selling my old car also. so maybe 6-7k

So how much should i pay?

sorry 2g GST/GSX

and i also want to have some money left over for supporting mods but id rather buy a solid car and wait on mods than a junker and have to spend all the money on repairs and not actually any bolts ons.

Recently i found this one but the 271k worries me a tad bit

Yea I would say 5gs you could het a really nice car. And with the money you make from selling your car you could do some minor mods. Also do you your homework about these cars.

That doesn't look like a bad 2g. Looks clean to me,how about the engine?

I think it depends on where you live. 5k wouldn't get anything nice around my area.

I agree on definitely doin your homework about these cars before buying one. I would go for one with less miles. You don't want to get into something, mod it up when it could be at the end of it's ropes already. Take your time and shop around.

Well it doesnt show the engine. i don't plan on contacting him about the car... i just wanted to see and get a basis on what i should pay

thats what i planned, but im buying a second 4g63 at my duty station and rebuilding it while i drive the old motor to the ground. i will be a wheeled vehicle mechanic in the army so ill learn a few things XD

Try to find one under 5000$ that has been very well maintained. If possible, try to get receipts for all the previous work done. Also i wouldn't buy a talon/eclipse with a lot of miles.

thats what i was thinkin. max miles would have to be about 170k that i would buy 271k is alotttt of miles. and things start breakin at that point

Ya 5 grand should get u something really nice

Yea man look everywhere for one and you'll find one worth getting. Around here $5000 would get you a great talon/eclipse with low miles.

I really don't think alot of DSM'ers on this site know what they are talking about when it comes to 2g prices. 5k should get you a good 2ga(95-96). 2gb's(97-99) are tricky. Less than 5k and you're looking at at least somewhat of a project. Over 5k and you're looking at a crook or a well maintained dsm. 4-6k is like right smack dab in the middle of the projects, crooks, and well maintained dsm's. I would say instead of putting urself in the middle of the road, get a project for like 1-2k and drop 2-3k in maintenance, rebuild, and upgrades. The most important factor at any rate is if you know what you're doing or not. Post up any find you have and listen to what the well-spoken members have to say. A well-maintained 2gb, especially a gsx, would be a gem. Like, that really doesn't happen in real life.

with 271k the motor is the least of your worries every bushing in that car will most likely need replaced tranny, rear end, electrical, etc. a lot can go wrong after that many miles and its worse when your in a state that sees a decent amount of snow

Agreed, to an extent.

My argument, we are all here because we love something that has been lost. Anyone this day in age does not buy DSM's for the sole reason as anyone would go into a dealership and purchase just a new sport compact vehicle. We want a project car with potential, cheap, fast, fun.

Get it for as cheap as you can and use the extra funds for maintenance, and restoration. Rebuilding the motor is an option if it seems like it is failing.. (4G63T not likely..)

Good Luck..!

Just be sure to do your shoppin, hell you will spend twice (or a lot more) the car value in maintenance, new mods, tires ect.. Do your shopping and then pull the trigger and go for it on one. Good luck man

Yea when I was shopping for my car I picked it up for fairly cheap (2000) it's only a gs but when I was shopping I saw a few gsx/gst for under 3500 whether they were worth it or not idk but there was an oddly large number of automatics? Anyways for a max of 7g you should be able to pick up a good quality car. It took me 3 months to find one I wanted at a good price so just take your time and good luck!

There's a significant price difference in gst's and gsx's. I would stay away from gst's, as they'll just leave you disappointed down the road, trust me. You can find a nice 2gb gst for around 4k, but look to spend 6 or more for a nice gsx. Something else to note is the supply of these cars. It's easy to find a decent gst, but much harder for a gsx, which drives the price up more. You won't find a good deal on this site, as the members are aware of the demand. Your best bet for finding a good gsx at a good price is to search craigslist ads and local ads like your life depended on it for a few months.

Last month my brother got a 96 gsx with 89,000 on it. It was garage stored. It hasn't seen a winter. Super clean unmolested only exhaust. For $3,000. So its all how hard you look and how lucky you get.

i also agree with your statement but 5k for 271k is pricey unless the car has been totally gone through that manly miles is risky if your not doing a total overhaul on the vehicle. you can pick a decent dsm up around here for around 4-6k and i picked mine up for 1500 because of a blown t-25 (he thought the motor needed rebuilt) so if you look hard enough you can find the right deal to suit your needs

I have a 97 gsx I want to sell with goodies I need this car gone ( family biz) 50,000 original miles!! Bought from a nurse W/ a built 6 boltl longblock on the side NYC area.
