Might be easier and cheaper to move to japan and have one... but over there would an old R34 be looked at like an old eclipse here in the US? as i "just another used car" ? I often wonder about that when people talk about wanting this or that JDM car that's pretty cool and when i think of what people here would pay to import/register it and the rest and then wonder if we are just the laughing stock of the country going crazy to buy old beat up used japanese goods LOL Almost like dumspter diving on a high end scale. Baiscally like some one coming here or having us ship him a 1995 buick lesabre to say great brittan, where here that car would sit on a used car lot until some old man wanted it..are the skylines of old similar to that in japan where it's not even considered when they want too go buy something sporty? And if so what's the new crop of their stuff looking like :D???

Being in Japan currently I can tell you that Skylines are like Civics here. Every one has them. I used to be so infactuated with them but once I got here and realized they really are not all THAT special they became ehh. If I could import a car from Japan back home it would be a Toyota MARK II or Chaser Tourer V. they are a sedan version of the Supra

where do i get the skyline from?

thats easy, just find one thats already here man, it'll be kinda pricey but ALOT easier then going throught LONNNG process to import it here then clear customs. plus they ARE HERE so get them while you can before somebody snatches them up.

here are a few R34 GTR's, reason im helping is because i too plan to get an R32 GTR someday and cant wait..

Cheers
Mike

edit: its funny that in that add for the 2000 skyline some ricer with a lot of money must have owned it, i mean lime green wheels gimme a break and stop trolling high schools for tail LOL

hahahahah....wow that's so awesome to know.. and like in my above post i always sorta thought that's how it might be...now i can feel justified in not being impressed about them at all (because i'm really not) Good to know they weren't meant to be a performance/half-a-supercar. I mean yea i've seen some i like but before i'd import one of those I'd spend my money to turbocharge a nice clean Lexus IS300 (or even an older SC), but that's my taste/style.. the "skyline" just never impressed me all that much in the looks dept, especially stock

but honest even the car in the pic is nice and clean, but i'm not "impressed" with it, there's just nothing that strikes or catches me about it other than the FMIC but you can add those to about any car you want to if it's got a platform with a decent foundation to build on.. i think it kinda looks like a Camry

but hell if they hadn't built and stuck one in an import mag some years back no one would probably know about or even care about them, let alone wanting one.. and it makes sense, import mags build civics all the time, this was just a japanese equivilant to a civic build that started a craze of fans because of high HP numbers (but hell it had a two cylinder advantage over most other things putin import mags to start with LOL)

I do like nissans in general though, or have for the most part inthe past. I still miss the 280z i had when i was younger, and some of the newer Z cars although having a few things i dont' like about them, have still impresssed me in both handling and power output

Your not impressed with the Mark 2 because you simply have not driven one. trust me, i spent 2 years living over in Japan and those MArk 2's are sweet. they are basically 4 door supra's with the option of an Auto or manual, not too mention the sweet power and torque of the 1JZGTE =)

yea, i can't speak of that, i was just saying "at a glance" if one was parked at wal-mart it would blend in with the cars around it, not really jump out and shout "i'm a foreign car imported and i'm bad-ass" so to speak

But hell i'm down to ride in one if that canbe arranged and give my review from there :D

haha yeah man, they are a dime a dozen over there too, they come in Trios with the same engine and Drivetrain just like our Beloved DSM's they have the Mark 2, Cresta and Chaser. the Tourer V versions are the ones that are twin turbo using the 1JZGTE.

here are a few pics of some i liked while out there.

There is a Chaser here with a 1.5JZ (2GZ bottom end with 1JZ head....or vice versa).

Either way. the NHTSA only have authority to confiscate cars that drive on the roads. If a car is registered for off-road use, it's not within their jurisdiction to take it. Then again.... the way this whole country is turning into a police state.... well that's a topic for another day.

I guess this is why you get these guys that try to transform thier honda accord into a full on Skyline LOL

I don't know I'd rather take a 240 with skyline bumpers, fender flairs and taillights. nobody will even be able to tell the difference. Right hand drive is the only thing you would really have to live without but hey if you got enough money and time even that is possible.

there's always the infinity G35, or shoehorn a RB26 (or RB25) into a 240sx and have a makeshift GT-S. Or go the Toyota route and find a cheap(er) Lexus 300. It does have the same engine as the non turbo supra. either way you'd have to roll those sleeves up.

if your talk the IS300 its a pain to wedhe in a 2jz turbo no room for said turbo. now a SC300 thats a fun ride with a 1jz twin in it

sc300 is the same chassis as a Mkiv Supra, they have budget kits that put it into the 350whp range for under 2g's. Turbo'ing a Is300 isnt any different, just takes a bit to fit everything in.

not an r34 or even a gtr. but this will give you a low starting point on how much you need.. youre looking for an r34 if you can find one spending around 35k or so.

WRONG here is Billy Shea's IS300 with a 2JZ AND an HKS t51R kai BB witch is a HUGE turbo and his fits fine.

you may remember this car from the cover of super street at one point.
