Hey ok so i searched this for like 20min and gave up. I took my sun shade cover off today to reupholster it. it actually came out nice. Now im trying to put it back in and cant get it right. i tried every way possible and still nothing. does anybody have a write up with pics that could help me out. i spent two hours on it today before i gave up. Ive read every thread about sunroofs and cant get the answer. hopefully someone can help me out.thanks

I have taken one of these out many years ago, can't really remember how, but I got it back in without trouble if I remember right. To try to refresh my memory, did you have to unbolt the sunroof and take the shade out from the top?

And if you could possibly post a good couple of pics of the sides of the shade and maybe track, it may jog my memory or someone else here that has done it, if there was some kind of special thing that had to be done.

Hopefully that may help if you fail to find any write ups.

I ripped mine out they never worked too great and where always giving me trouble. But reinstall can't help you mine where such a pain in the ass to get back in I just left them out.Make sure the little clips on the end are not broken.

cant post pics im working a 48 but to answer your question i didnt take the sunroof off to take them out so i figured i wouldnt need to take it off to put them back in. the clips are fine. does one of the panels need to be on a certain track and the other need to be on the other.? I also cant remember if the one with the handle above or below the other piece....any help would be great thanks

One time I had it pop out I had one guy on top looking make sure it aligned on the track and the other guy under making sure was aligned from the bottom. There a pain in the you know what but I am sure once you get them on track you will be set.I popped the sun roof open and pinched the springs on top to make sure it would fit the tabs on the track, I am trying to remember but been a while sence I had to deal with them.

have your sunroof lifted not all the way back then place the 1st piece through the outside of the car( the one with the handle) in a flat head screwdriver will help push the tabs to get it in place be aware that the one with the handle will go lower then the second piece, your not gonna be able to see the tabs once its in right since they go lower.... after both sides are in 4 tabs in total....place the second piece through the outside make sure you place the 1st inch on top of the 1st piece to make sure it pulls it... then just push in the tabs on both sides

note you will be able to see the tabs on the second piece but not the 1st because the 1st piece tabs sit on a lower arm

if you try to retract your sunroof once you think its in right and it only goes half way back, you didnt put the 1st piece of the cover on the lower arm where the tabs sit, take off both pieces through the outside again and give it another try

thanks first thing tomorrow morning ill try this and let you know how it goes.thanks again for your time.

Maybe this will help.... made this little graphic to remind me how it works. :)

I just use a screwdriver to push the springs back, then get it in the little track and let go of the spring. Yes, it's MUCH easier with he glass out. In fact, I do not recall ever taking it out or reinstalling with the glass in there first.

Edit: what alex said, basically. LOL

thanks for the pic. I think in the morning im going to pull the sunroof and do make my life easier. appreciate the help

I would suggest putting a rubber washer on every one of the torx screws holding the glass to the frame. It will rattle like crazy after a while once you remove them and it is very likely you'll strip the points off the screw before you can torque it down hard enough to make it quit rattling. Rubber washers give the screws a better grip. You gotta get the ones with a small steel cupped washer with about 1/16" rubber backing. You may have to clip the steel part of the washer a little to get it to sit right, but it is worth the hassle. Rattling roof glass is really annoying.

you dont have to take the glass off to do this, i just took mine off last night and reinstalled another one that i found at the pick n pull that was in better shape with the stock fabric and everything....
just push the sunroof button once to get it cracked open the do the rest from the top, i had one had inside the car and one outside to help me get the tabs on the track correctly i did it last night around 9( right before jersey shore) i put my phone on top of the glass so i could see better...just remember the 1st piece sits lower then the second
