I am looking at replacing my BOV. I was looking at the Greddy XS, but I seem to be seeing people with Greddy problems aplenty. What BOV do you like? Why?

Also, what is a safe PSI for a stock turbo? I hear rumors that anything beyond 14 will raise hell on the engine.

Thanks for your help!

what type of bov is on it? i would just recirculate that one if its a quality bov. would be cheaper.

OEM 1g can hold steady to 20psi. If you do the crush or garage mods to it, it will hold steady until 30 psi. Anything higher than that and your gonna want to use something like an HKS SSQV and they are not cheap.

1g DSM BOV is the way to go. I've tried the ebay Greddy knockoff, and it didn't even arrive assembled properly. After opening it up to screw down the nut that holds the valve stem to the diapragm, it was a month long battle to seal up all the external leaks, and j-b weld the lower nipple on because it promptly broke off when touched.

Right now I'm running a 1g bov(not crushed). I have a knock off bov that came with my fmic kit. I also have a xsturbo h-rfl that I could convert to recirculation. I'm just looking for opinions on what would be the best. I'm pushing 20 psi but soon Ill be bumping it up, so the 1g bov needs to be upgraded.

1g bovs are good, but they dont last long (in my experience)... ive wasted lots of time on junk BOVs and find they are the culprit in boost leak tests... I found a genuine HKS ssqv on ebay for about 50$ new, which is still selling as we speak... its the best bang for the buck... i have one, but i warn you, its LOUD. it holds 30 psi no prob... and it doesnt have a diaphram, it uses a different system which is full proof on leaks...

sell your 1g for 40$, your two knock offs for 40$, make 80$, then buy a HKS, and have 30$ left over for a big bottle of american honey for new years!!! thumbs up!

I wouldnt use the knockoff. You could not recirc it but just do it the right way. I had a turboxs on my car and wasnt recirc and no gm maf or sd either. I didnt notice any problems but opinions differ. I would use the turboxs or you can sell them and get a real greddy or tial. I have a tial.

Ive had my 1g bov on for a year and a half and I have no problem. I run stock boost daily. !g bov are great. But like I said, some peoples experiences are different.

theres a recirculation adapter for the knockoff bov on the left, but i dont think theres one for the xs bov. there is also one for my HKS, which is about 10$.

Ive checked out the difference on the diaphragms because I've heard some have "crappy" diaphragms and some have good diaphragms. Mine is pretty similar to the NGR diaphragm. I thought a crushed would only hold around 22psi? I don't know much about the H-RFL so I should probably research it...

It really depends on your budget. If you can afford it, get a SSQ. Personally I like the Synapse SSQ bov they have. I have used it on my supra, and a few buddy's have used it on evo's and wrx's. Personally I have found that it surges much less than the HKS SSQ. You will still get some as with just about any BOV, but the synapse is a great product in my opinion. Either that or a TiAL.

I'm pushing 20 psi but soon Ill be bumping it up, so the 1g bov needs to be upgraded.
Dodge Garage-mod the 1G valve, sell the junk in the photos. I honestly find it hard to believe you're considering a knockoff Greddy and another valve that attaches to the base with three set screws as "upgrades" to the 1G valve.

I run both ports on my "knockoff" greddy type S bov. It holds over 30psi for me wiht no problems. i couldn't get my didge garage 1gbov to hold over 26. And forget about a non modded 1gbov. Leave those for guys with slow 2g's running 18psi.

I am looking for some advice on a blow off valve upgrade. I have a pretty decent vacuum leak, assuming it's that stock BOV. I think I'm going to invest in hard pipes also. But I still have that stock T-25 so I'm looking for a replacement BOV that will fit similarly to the stock one. Advice appreciated, thanks.

If you replacing your intercooler pipes with hard pipes then you can pretty much choose ony BOV you want just have to weld the flange on. The most recommended BOV is going to be the 1g BOV. Its good inexpensive and works.

Can't go wrong with a 1g bov but I would highly suggest a Tial QR. Looks and sounds very good along with being a quality product.
