I do see the links are all broke, i am in the process of fixing them. Sorry!

a little bit of backround on my history with dsm's before we get started. it all started when i was 15, my father got me a 1993 eclipse with a 1.8 4g37 , really riced out ;body kit huge wing big tach fart can blah blah, i loved that car.
When we purchased the car is had a small turbo in the trunk a 13g from the auto 1g's was used mainly as a paper weight that i just thought was so cool. then one day i found these forums! i was 15 and new to forums so my forum behavior wasnt that great (remember then in the links) started looking at all the "cool" turbo dsms and decided i wanted one! my father said hellll no. we will just turbocharge the 1.8 , so i said sure! so here is a few links for that

first here http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/156856-1-8-sohc-turbo.html

then http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/1g-...turbod-finally-posting-link-dissbeleif-4.html

well, that project kind of ended when i purchased a 1990 tsi awd from the junkyard for like 200$ all it had was bent valves and dull paint, however i didnt know so i started ripping parts off of it left and right like a piranha in hopes to make my 4g37 faster! but i found a really nice 4g63 nt with a blown headgasket really cheap. Bought that and intended to put my brand new super shiny evo 3 16g turbo on it! never got around to it.

That car had given me quite a bit of trouble
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/420a-turbo-conversion/199459-ive-had.html
and the new thing around here was awd, so of course being 16 not having much cash flow i asked my father he also liked the idea and we were awd shopping!

looked at lots and finally found a 1990 eclipse gsx in denver colorado 1400.00 with apparently nothing wrong with it on ebay. we bought it! we flew out met the guy, he picked us up from the airport, and by this time i had some general knowledge on turbocharged vehicles. so hes trying to be cool and boost it through the parking garage where its loud and echos, the only thing that was echoing with the fuel cut and compressor surge , so my father and i look at each other and think oh my lord this car is probably about to die. we were stuck in Colorado so we took the journey to florida anyways.
(most fun i've ever had with my father)

Long story short car had a dead hole, turned out to be a melted piston probably larger then 3/4" around hole missing melted away from the skirt. so the rebuild started! here : http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/cyl...-posting-pics-engine-re-build-i-am-doing.html

then went uphill from there ( or downhill however you look at it )
ended up with a nice setup e316g fic 650's 190lph maft saf2 fmic blah blah blah. turned into a little street racer, won lots of money but lost more of it.. including my drivers license for a year. while i wasnt able to drive i had very little motivation to do anything to the car. i did manage to put a 50 trim t3/t4 of some sort on there and run it gained a few mph but lost ALOT of spool and pep.

well anyways about 8 or 9 months go by and i start getting the bug im 18 working my first full time job , i started buying all kinds of parts for this thing! i had my engine taken to a local builder and had him start ordering parts and machining the block. i almost accumulated all i would need to get it running aprox. 7,000$ worth of stuff in about 4 months.

a few years later i started working on the car when i could ,gutting it out changed some colors, had a roll cage installed and fuel cell with lines, then removed the cell and returned it and decided sumping the stock tank per regulations on the class i wanted to run. then the car sat.

punishment racing t4 manifold! jmfab race styling smim, order with nitrous bungs , unpolished, they polished it on accident ,didnt mind the polish job free :thumb: but really wanted nitrous, so had to send back

so almost getting my license back, i meet a girl hang out , start dating, getting a little serious. we moved in together shortly after the dsm project came to a stop, we moved into an apartment paying 1100 a month rent only ( i didnt know any better ) no room or money to work on the dsm, plus with a new fresh relationship living together any free time we had ... yea. car sits.

i would be getting my license back soon and i didnt really have a car to drive, so i started reviving my 94 gs 4g63 nt! had loads of parts to spare, so made it turbo! i bought an car with a blown tranny super cheap and just swapped the engine over, i was accually very pleased in how this turned out!

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/1g-n-t-tech/322382-how-many-slapped-turbo-nt-called-day.html

needless to say stupid idea on my part, never changed or freshened anything up water pump seized in the middle of construction with solid concrete barricades at a red light with no where to go , by the time i was able to pull off the road it was far too late , the engine was toast. sad because this thing was really starting to be fun, with only 7 psi!

so thats out of the picture now (again), i sold the gsxr 600, bought a 2006 Hyundai tiburon gt v6 (in 2008) totaled it two months later

then bought a 2005 scion tc which i still drive.

fast forward 5 years later , 5 YEARS! that girl i was dating is now my wife and the mother of my beautiful little girl. the car sat outside on an open trailer for nearly 5 years with a large hole in the trunk from where my fuel cell used to be. car scene is now dead but i started getting the bug again, i only had a few parts to buy still and alot of work to do! so i put my garage to use finally took the car off the trailer and set it in my perfectly empty CLEAN garage. then came the rest of the shit LOL. all the spare parts cluttered my 2 car garage really nicely interior was nothing but metal, so i started putting everything back together and seeing what all i was missing ( it had been 5 years! ) i still had three spare cars at this time, grabbed when i needed from them, and completed the interior fairly quick!

put it all together!

car is ready to run! i ported the manifold to fit the new larger throttle body and did an absolutely terrible job and cleaning the shavings (used a vaccum cleaned with manifold still attacked to the head) car wouldnt start took off the head (son of a bi***) shavings caught in ALL of the valves and they wont close project stopped right there and car went for sale.5,000 for the car ALL of my spare parts the red gs(t) and the open trailer, i was tired of it done working on it, thought it was be a nice down payment on an evo.

well if you read the "i've had it!" you will know i just put a new head on that car (the red 4g63nt w/ turbo) RIGHT before it started the rod knock, that head sat for maybe 7 years or so, but was still in excellent condition, so i gave it a thorough cleaning and put my comp 101202's in it with the stock springs just to get it running to sell it easier ( this was a few weeks ago ) and after that i proceeded in getting the car to run correctly with the new SD setup and fixing all the leaks and what not and getting it tuned, well i fell in love with the car again and immediatly took it down from where i was selling it (ebay, dsmtuners, craigslist and the bulletin board at work)

This is where my journey catches up with the present i have been out of the dsm game for quite some time and am trying to immerse myself back into it. i am still fixing the leaks i found the largest appearing to be from the oil pan , i used the gasket that came with my kit, why wouldnt i have? it was the oil pan gasket after all, well after reading apparently its a terrible idea to use the gasket , use rtv instead. DUH! years ago i wouldnt go anywhere without rtv! ( dsm is slowly coming back to me! ) however i forgot how much of a pain in the ass it is to remove the oil pan on the awd, especially in the garage without the proper tools ( breaker bar for cross member ) as i progress i will keep this updated with LOTS of pictures and videos!

there are more updates, that i will post shortly! just figured, i fought for build thread returns so i needed to make one.

first major issue i had was the car kept going lean when hitting boost no matter what i did to the tune. come to find out , there was air in the fuel pickup lines, i went to home depot got some clear hose just so i could see what was going on and put it between the tank and pumps and saw this.

Second major issue was the transmission

Thread : http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/drivetrain-tech/416781-91-94-shift-assembly-90-a.html

i previously broke a shift cable , and i have a 93 gs. robbed the cables from that and also robbed the shifter base, and the linkages on the tranny. well i could not for the life of me get the horizontal arm off of the transmission so i ghetto rigged an adapter that "worked" and by worked i mean it went into all the gears.

while trying to tune the car with a buddy driving and me tuning he snatched 3rd quite hard ( large fellow ) and broke the shift fork

Note this fork was allready modified , i added extra aluminum after the roll pin to give it more stability!
20111006200339.jpg

20111006200350.jpg

so i bought the evo shift fork (steel apposed to cast aluminum) shop cost 55$ from dealer
IMAG0231.jpg

IMAG0232.jpg

got it all buttoned up and painted my transmission purple
IMAG0245.jpg

..... just kidding haha.. its black

got it running again a day later, time to get her tuned! I drove this time while my buddy logged the car, i snatched 3rd but not too hard. BAM! another long drive home stuck in 3rd gear.. WTF after smoking the clutch at every stop light to get it rolling i made it home. Theres no way i broke that steel fork so ripped it out AGAIN..
IMAG0269.jpg

IMAG0270.jpg

after this mishap i searched until i found an answer. my ghetto shift linkage adapter was off, so i was "overthrowing" 3rd gear and causing it to break, dumbass me. Decide to fix this shit once and for all, except i STILL cant get the damn pin out of the linkage , tried heating the hell out of it, beating it , pb blaster (w/e LOL) drilling out the hole. nothing so i had to make one.

i have 4 or 5 transmissions around , all 90 except my gs trans so i mocked up an arm
cut off another 90s end and attatched to to my existing

IMAG0271.jpg

IMAG0272.jpg

IMAG0273.jpg

IMAG0276.jpg

IMAG0278.jpg

VOILA! easy fix and no more 3rd gear problems.. NEXT UP!! clutch issues... saw this coming pretty sure i killed it driving home in 3rd gear TWICE across town. xtd clutch from ebay whodathunkit slips when boost hits, i am still clutch shopping waiting on income tax, leaning towards quartermaster twin or ptt not sure yet, any input? EDIT: 5/29/12, i went with a single disc clutchmaster fx500, see how this works.(lack or money obviously)

cant do much tuning so i decided to make it look a little nicer, wires were everywhere and i wasnt using hardly any of the extras anymore so here comes my wire tuck

after my practice launches i decided the car needs some sort of different suspension, maybe lower the front a little bit. i bought " el cheapo ebay coilovers " 57$ shipped to my doorstep. i figured what the hell.

After anticipating a terrible ride , drove the car around for a little bit. For anybody interested. these coilovers are not that bad at all, the ride is just the same as ANY other lowered car ive ever driven or been in i wouldnt, but i could definitely daily drive this car , would not bother me much at all. besides crawling in and out of the roll cage, and lack of power steering. the launch doesnt have nearly as much spaceshuttle launch movement , still some for decent weight transfer but i can see the road when i launch now! my launch seems to be much better, on the street at least, sadly never got to compare 60' #'s but eh what can you do. still breaks them all loose.

was also having some spark blowout not sure why, plugs look a little dark but i am not sure thats why it was blowing out, switched back to bpr6es's from 8's and gapped to .20 as apposed to .25, cleared the blowout up after that.

Love when people post the history on there dsms, awesome work man.

Hey thanks! i have been saving these pictures for a longgg time. glad to see somebody took the time to read this ! i feel like i just opened a business and your my first customer.. weird right? :p well, Merry Christmas nonetheless! :rocks::thumb:

i am looking for input on a clutch decision , if you guys have any recommendations i am all ears!

One step forward 5 steps back!

If you have been reading , i am having clutch issues , car is just sitting with the occasional cruise. so i decided at 1:30am this morning that i want to remove the engine and trans until income tax comes around for my clutch :thumb: during this time i will do a full wire tuck, including a fusebox relocation.

Also contemplating exterior and engine bay colors, i have been really missing the champagne, its sentimental to me and i think i want it back.

however i did see on this site, an engine bay that was a grayish and the exterior was a darker, maybe black? and that was beautiful. so i will also clean strip (not shave) the engine bay and paint it, trying to not rattle can paint it either. again..

My car still has some major oil leaks, so i am going to reseal everything while its out. The largest leak is coming from the trans area on the oil pan(i think) but could possibly be a rear main seal..,the oil pan had a nice size crack in it, i think was the major culprit. ( 5/29/12 )

blah, heres the pics already. (sorry some are blurry , they look perfect when i take them)

Looks like its coming along,as for the clutch I'm not 100% sure what are your hp goals?

ok awesome, i was kind of putting it in different areas seeing if i liked it.

Well i got the harness out and i bit off more then i can chew im afraid, but i have commited and i will finish it. Question on the harness, could i just plug all of my sensors to their plugs and run my own wires to the ecu plugs ? seems like it would be significantly easier to wire what i need , rather then remove what i dont i would assume.

Thoughts? yes , but i dont think i will venture into that. the cost of the wiring & then it will require a shut off switch blah blah , i am just not ready for that yet. once i get this harness finished i will be a pretty happy guy! the engine stuff is easy , same with the transmission , but this harness .. sheesh.

Its pretty simple and relatively cheap.i did mine for under 50 bucks and i have a breaker so when a fuse blows or something happens it automatically kills all power to the car.

If I do battery relocation it will be one of the last things, I'm looking for help with the wire harness, is there a simple way to condense it ? Seems I only use about 12 plugs , cas, mafs, tps, knock ,coil , power transistor, Injectors, coolant temp, water gauge, with the exception of the noise filters I feel like I could get rid of a lot of these wires.

Yes you could do that but be prepared to spend ALOT of time on it. You would have to depinn every wire that you will not be using. I recall looking at a post about it but cannot think of the name.:hmm:

Eh depinning is easy , I just wasn't prepared to spend this much time on the wiring . Although I have to wait till march to get a clutch anyways. That clutch and flywheel was from eBay so who knows, maybe they were thinking of cooling the friction surface more then actually have a friction surface.

By the way , I was looking at your article? How did you have extra wire? It seems pretty tight when its in the engine bay, all of the lights to the fuse box I mean. Did you extend your wiring ?

the wire harness rewire is actually going pretty smoothly as long as you keep track of your wires, and only cut ONE wire at a time move it aside then continue cutting the rest off of that plug , untangling along the way and wrapping tape around the end of the wires to write on. 3 of 4 of my injector plugs fell off due to the age of them, so i will have to purchase more ( they would wiggle loose during wot pulls sometimes anyways)

Well i finished the harness for the most part, by finished i mean the ecu part.

All there is left to do is connect the pigtails i left on my sensor plugs to the harness and make a hole near the bottom where the ecu is the other side of the firewall, and run them through.

i have a bad feeling that something didnt go right, everything went WAY to easy and things are never that easy. if anybody if familiar with the wire harness, do i need the air flow sensor reset? i dont believe so since i am only using, baro intake temp power ground for my speed density.there are also green wires leading to another plug they are the same colors as the airflow sensor and i believe baro? but they dont lead to the ecu.

Anybody who can shed light will be much appreciated , i wont be able to test this harness till around march.

then the connector is gone! thanks!
I have bounced back and forth around the idea of the fusebox, as of right now i am going to put it in the glove box like i originally wanted to but after removed the stuff i dont use, i.e foglights, hazards, turn signals, and horn. most of this is either non functional currently or unnecessary for drag racing and will alleviate alot of wiring, i am contemplating removing the flip up light motors and just leaving them down and my brights on for city driving ( 500-1000 miles a year if that ) that would save more wires and a little weight. i bet they are 5lbs+ each.

Did some more paint stripping tonight, my father brought over a pressure washer only to find out it didnt work :ohdamn:
