Usually they define "supercars" in terms of 0-60 times and ETs in 1/4 mile. Sometimes 60-0 braking times. I know a lot of ours cars have posted ridiculously low ETs in the 1/4 mile but we usually refer to 60 ft times instead of 0-60 times. Anyone have a idea how our cars stack up against say a new Corvette ZR1?

Well there's a difference when your comparing stock cars and a difference when comparing a stock car to heavily modified car.

A 9 sec eclipse cant be compared to a stock z06.

You wouldn't find it fair if you compared a 9 sec eclipse to a 6 sec dragster.

Stock to stock? No you can't compare the eclipse to supercars.

my POS colt is quicker than most "supercars"

its not going 200mph+ anytime soon though

It's like all those Chevy commercials where they compare their Camaros and Corvettes to more expensive super cars - you may have a similar 0-60 and 1/4 time but no one will be cross shopping a Lambo and Camaro ZL1 and arriving in a Corvette isn't the same as an Aston Martin DB9.

I do it every day - My DSM against the world.

Come on LFA - you're not shit.

Lexus posted an acceleration diagram of the LFA and, me being me, took a log of my 11 second run and made the same acceleration diagram for my car. Its unrealistic for me to ever think I could own a car like that however, that doesn't mean I can't build a car I already love to be just as fast if not faster.

Ahhh, but remember the saying - "A gentleman may do most anything so long as he does so with style." The car doesn't make the man, it's the other way around. :D

Prime example as nothing could help this kid -

AND actually know what all the parts are and how to fix them. I don't believe that people actually hate the fact that others can afford exotics but more-so that they have no true attachment to their car other than an inflated ego.

Stock to stock comparison isn't really what I was after. Gofer That was exactly what I was after. I see some of our cars posting times in the 1/4 faster than many of the "supercars" but at much much less expense. Best my Talon ever did was 12.00 which to me felt pretty damn fast but I don't know how that stacks up against so called "supercars" in terms of 0-60 mph times.
I don't want to turn this into a street racing oriented thread as I'm just not into that anymore as I am a reformed street racer. So let's not head down that path.
One of the cops in town bought a GTR... He knows absolutely nothing about it. Won't be driving it fast. He bought it because; it looks cool, it's a sought after item and to him it makes him look cooler. I don't have much respect for that. It's pompous. Kinda like the Harley Davidson thing. Living in WI there are tons and tons of Harleys around. But to me I don't see buying a stock Harley as an instant "Hey I'm cool badge." One of the guys at my work built his own bike. Fabbed up his own frame, built his own motor for it, spec'ed his own parts and has a V twin monster that looks nasty and runs low 10s in the 1/4. Maybe 9s. Not sure anymore. I'm not a Harley guy but I respect that.
My best friend is a video editor director with his own studio in Milwaukee. He just bought a million dollar house on the shore of lake Michigan just north of Fox point. Every single one of his neighbors own at least 1 porsche 911. The guy 3 houses north owns 2 and one of those Porsche turbo SUVs. Now him, I respect. Why? Because his Porsches are an '07 Porsches GT3 rs and a '11 GT3 rs. They driven as often as possible on the track at Road America but are both still street legal and weather permitting he drives them around town. He also used to race Porsches semi pro all over the country and does all his own work on them. He's not a dick. He's not stuck up. Really a pretty cool guy that is as passionate about Porsches as a lot of us are about DSMs. And what's more he knows and respects DSMs and used to own a 1G AWD DSM.
He's not the norm. I get a lot of satisfaction from knowing how much I've improved my 2G AWD DSM from stock. My DSM just like most of our cars is a work in progress. Many more things are planned for it. Tubular cro moly front and rear subframes, big track worthy brakes from TCE. i'd really like to take my GSX to that next "supercar" level of performance. I mean really if you think about it... the level of performance we've been able to get out of these little 2 liter four cylinder platform is nothing short of astonishing! The V8 guys at my work garage used to scoff at my little "foreign" car and thought I was outright lying about what it could do.

Only you would get that enthusiastic about numbers.

:p

Supercars drop panties in less than 2 seconds. Dsms...might take a little more coaxing. Couple of shots won't hurt either.

I love seeing the track tests for all of the super car shoot outs and then looking at the E/Ts and seeing if i'm faster or not. I was just doing this with a Motor Trend mag where it was TOP 11 Drivers cars.

If you bought your car to drop panties, you have bigger issues LOL

Not to mention the type of girl that's into cash, flash and status. F*ck that.

Polish your game son.

This has been an interesting thread. I have been fortunate enough to have driven some exotics. And there is a big difference in a DSM and a Lamborghini. Lamborghini spends a lot of time and money making them fast before you buy it and we do it after. Lol. Actually the big difference is in the quality of materials used for the body and interior and the fact that they set up the car and you can change from road to track with one button. Because if a rich guy wanted just a fast car he could get super car performance cheaper than a Lamborghini. For example the Arial Atom has a higher power to weight ratio than a Bugatti Veyron and is no more expensive than an average new BMW. It's all flash, dash and status.

The mission for me is going to be getting the GSX to corner & stop as well as the "supercars." I'm looking to get front & rear cro moly tubular subframes thru one of our members on here, upgraded sway bars, big brakes on all 4 corners thru TCE, at minimum a 6 point roll bar and at minimum 255 width tires. Probably closer to 275. It has been explained to me that although forced induction is a replacement for displacement... There is no replacement for contact patch surface area. The GSX will never be a "supercar" with a 6 figure pricetag but I'm ok with that. I get a lot of satisfaction out of driving it. It puts a smile on my face or more accurately a shit eating grin.

And I could just kick myself; I had no idea Andrew's bodykit was going to come out so fast after he put feeler post out there. I actually even had the cash in hand to buy one and spent it on a new latest greatest flat screen with killer surround sound. Don't get me wrong... I love that crisp clear HD image and feeling that 15" 500 watt subwoofer rumble thru my feet... But I would have rather had one of those bodykits.
