ok so i had an aeromotive fpr with external gauge that went bad and insted of rebuilding it i bought a new fuelab 51502-5 fpr with install kit and gauge. all was going well intill i got to adjusting it. it will not go below 50 psi, the adjustment screw has plenty of room for adjustment. i've tried with the vacuum line off, still will not go below 50 psi. the reason for replaceing the aeromotive fpr was because it was reading at 60psi and it was set for 38 psi. after trying to adjust up or down with no change in idle i figured it was bad. i hadn't changed anything before it went bad, i was just check the oil level when i noticed that it was reading at 60 psi.WTF so now that the new one is doing close to the samething, any ideas why i can't get it to 38 psi?
have- walbro 255 fp, 450 injectors, 2gen fuel rail and intake manifold, 6-bolt block and head. emissions delete, a/c delete, 2gen ecu

don't have yet but soon- wideband O2, logger, larger injectors, eprom ecu

check your return like for a kink. If you back tha adjusting screw almost out and it will not go below 50-60 psi. I would say a kink in the return line not allowing the fuel back into the tank properly

not possible. it was doing this before i replaced anything. fuel filter was replaced about 9 months ago with a mitsu. filter. not sure how old he wally is, i'm checking with the guy i got the talon from to see if he knows. i rechecked the lines again just to be 100% sure no kinks. i can't belive the regulator could be bad from the factory but thats the ownly thing i can think of.
he said the fuel pump is about 2 yrs old, if that helps.

Hard to belive that the AFPR is bad out the box, but it can happen.

If you have less then a 1/4 tank in the car try this...

take the fuel filler cap off, then the fuel return line to the tank, burp it with a quick shot of compressed air, once you know for sure there is no gas in the line, blow thu it hard with compressed air.

I am thinking you may have a clog in the return line causing the back pressure to build.
Maybe rust in the line or dirt build up, a chunk of rubber.

also you may want to try to bybass the return line, get a long piece of gas spec hose, on the return port of the AFPR, clamp the hose, then either in a 5 gallon gas can, or all the way back into the fuel filler neck with the other end. Then check and see if the fuel presser drops to normal settings.

yea, as mentioned above its hard to believe the apfr is the problem seeing that 2 completely different regulators are giving you the same problem, something is restricting your return line although i would have to imagine that the 60-50 psi your seeing couldn't push the clog through.... id say just replace your return line and your should be good.

well.... i just tried it to no avail, it didn't change anything, still reads at 50psi.:banghead: i could hear the air gurgling in the tank from the compressed air. i took the line off right at the fpr, there was very little resistance at only 60psi from the compressor, probably just the fuel that was in the line.

i'm going to check with the company i got the fpr from, and see if they have any ideas or if they'll warranty the one i have.

ok, so here the low down as to what happened. after receiving the new FPR, and installing it, and it still doing the samething, then waiting a week for shipping and testing. only to find out that nothing was wrong with it. so, i was also waiting for a new generator (that was shipped wrong twice) due to a squeel. and last night finally had some time to put towards the car. installed the new generator and no more squeel, and now my fpr is reading back at 38psi.:confused: so the only thing i can think of is the voltage regulator went bad in the geneator and was sending to much power to the pump.WTF needless to say everything seems to be back to normal.

Uaually the afpr's come with 2 springs. One is stronger than the other. You should be using the stronger spring.
