I found an incredible deal on 2 12inch Subwoofers in a sealed encloser for 80 dollars. The following link are the subwoofers I got.
Consumer Guide: Pioneer TS-W301R Raw Car Subwoofer Review

I dont know anything about car audio, I've been trying to learn but I'm in over my head.

Can you guys tell me what kind of amp will be okay for me to use? Specifications? Maybe even teach me something about how Amplifiers and Subwoofers work.

I'm in hopes I can go to my local walmart and buy the pioneer amplifier they have on sale, and that it will work for my subwoofers and give me the bass I am lacking for my dubstep and raggae

i would run one 1000 watt amp double channel meaning on the output of the amp you can hook up two speakers.the sony xplod amp is garbage it says 1000 watts but is actually only pushing 600 watts. wiring is simple enough the rca cables run from your headunit along with a remote wire to the amp your remote wire tells the amp to turn on when your radio comes on. your positive wire goes from your battery all the way back to your amp and your negative you can ground wherever you want. run your power and rca cables on different sides of the car this will prevent interference. an amp takes the signal from your radio and amplifies it for your subwoofer. if you hook it all up and notice your lights dimming you need a capacitor a capacitor is a mini battery that holds charge so it doesnt pull enough power off your battery to dim your lights etc etc anything else LOL btw i have one fifteen rockford fosgate p2 in a ported box with a true 600 watt rockford fosgate mono block amp it shakes everything

Thank you for the advice especially on the install portion, I had almost forgot what I learned about signal interference with ethernet cabling.

I was watching the youtube videos on choosing amplifiers, and it was noted that since I have 4 door speakers I would have to connect them to the amp as well, with a 4 or even 5 channel amplifier?
It was also noted that if I was only using the subwoofer for bass I should use a Mono Block?

you do not need to connect your door speakers to your amp that is only if your bass is too loud and you cant hear your mids or high i run one fifteen in a big ass box and dont have any of my other speakers on an amp. monoblock is personal preference i run one because it came with my system for 150 before then i never ran a monoblock all your newer amps have a lp ap type switch on them where you can set it for just bass or sound and bass like a regular speaker just whatever amp you get make sure it has at least two outputs for both your subwoofers my mono block only has one channel out so i cant run anymore speakers off of it. and make sure your main power wire has an inline fuse better safe than having to buy a new amp

monoblocks only have one output you could technically hook the wires together off your speakers but i have never had a problem running a multichannel amp

I just figured out what you meant by the speakers and having enough terminals, the output terminals are what you were talking about right? Basicly each subwoofer is a seperate speaker and must be connected to a seperate set of output terminals? Is there a recommended size speaker wire for this?

I'm guessing I will only need 2channel or 4channel because I'm only going to be powering these two subwoofers?

Can I still run this system with this amplifier GM-5500T - 2-Channel Bridgeable Amplifier with 820 Watts Max. and Bass Boost Volume Control | Pioneer Electronics USA

everyone has there preferences on the wire i have always ran just a decent size wire to my speakers from my amp for all my other wires walmart has em for twenty to thirty bucks and yeah each speaker has two terminals aka one channel two channel amp would be nice yeah that amp would work you may wanna check walmart i think they have the same one not sure on the price and pioneer is always a good choice what headunit are you running?

some pioneers have it and some dont if you go through your settings and have a sla option that will control your subwoofers from the head unit if not the bass option controls them

nice head unit btw i have a pioneer super tuner

Yep i got a SLA option never really knew what it did, cept it did give me more bass frmo my 2 rear speakers.

You've been alot of help. so definatly I can go with that 2 channel one I linked you?

I pulled the specs. for your speakers. The rms is only 50-150watts. What is rms: the power that a subwoofer can take on a CONSTANT basis without doing any physical damage to the subwoofer ex overheating and frying the voice coil.
The peak is 800 watts. What is peak: the amount of power it takes a subwoofer voice coil to fry. You can spend money on a bigger amp(get 1000 watts to them and they wont last a week) and fry your speakers or you can get a 400-600 watt amp and push them and be on the safe side. Totally up to you. Here's a link so you can see yourself.

yeah you can run that one and if you find you want more go to a bigger amp those speakers can handle it i am big into systems my friend had three different tens in seperate boxes in the back of a third gen firebird if you run into any problems you can pm me it took me twenty minutes to run all the wires in my talon i ran my power wire under the quarter panel through the door jamb and under all the plastic and under the seat my rca's and remote wire i ran straight down the center under my center console and under the carpet and seats

Yeah I'm not trying to rattle window's or anything, I just like to hear my dubstep and I'm missing all the bass. :)

you might rattle some stuff i watch my sunroof flex with all the windows close and i can hear my hatch rattling i grounded mine to the bolt by the taillights take that plastic cover off and break one of the clips and the wire fits right through there jus gotta sand off the paint under the bolt

So I can use this and lower the watts going to the speakers and be safe and hear my bass?

That amp is not going to cut it. If you look at the specs, its 125watts x 2=300total rms. You need a amp that is 400-600 rms. Specs can be misleading sometimes. I seller can tell you the amp is 1000 watts but it will take all the right components to make it do it. When it comes to speakers always I mean always go by rms and not peak. If your going peak have money to replace things.

Okay I think I'm understanding alittle better. Its way past time for me to go to sleep.

Basicly non of the pioneer amplifiers that I'm looking at are going to work becaue they are exceeding the RMS the two subwoofers can handle which is 50-150.

Even this amplifier wouldnt work would it? Because of the RMS?GM-6500F - 4-Channel Bridgeable Amplifier with 760 Watts Max. Power | Pioneer Electronics USA

Is there an example amplifier under 200 dollar you can show me that will work with my system? Possibly by Pioneer?

WAIT! This one shoudl work because its 60x2 Rms

GM-3500T - 2-Channel Bridgeable Amplifier wtih 400 Watts Max. Power | Pioneer Electronics USA
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

ok, your speakers are 50-150 each, with 800 peak each. With that said id aim for 150-200watts on each speaker. Your going to be over the rms but way under the peak(kind of a median point). With that said, me my opinion id get 600rmp amp so that you wont have to crank the amp all the way up to maybe cause it to run hot. As far as the amp, stay away from 4 channel amps. Running your speakers in pararell on this amp will give you 600 rms watts.

Well with the one I showed you with my current understanding I'd be at 170 rms right?

No offense but please don't do this. In the last 15 years I have seen several amps fry due to the hot wire grounding out on the metal running it this way. Look under your dash and find a place to either drill a hole and grommet it, or even slice the boot under the steering column and go that way.

I had a kid come by the shop and want to know why his amp would work with the door open but not closed. When he closed the door it was pinching the wire causing it to ground.

Well, you can't go wrong with a TS808/TS9 boosted Krank.. things start falling off of the walls.

Sorry leet but were talking about car amplifiers

all these "peak" wattage numbers need to stop, they are numbers the companies pulls out there a$s... use RMS, most brands have an agreement to measure it the same exact way with what i assume is the same tools....
i just ignore max numbers....

i would run them off a nice ~400wrms at 4ohm one channel amp wired in series... there's no point in buying a cheap wally world amp when you will eventually upgrade the subs

i am not sure if i already said this in another thread but, your neon-eclipse looks way better without the stickers

Ahh...thanks.

I don't plan on running any subwoofers better than pioneer. I'm not an audiophile. The only upgrade will be the subbox I'm making in the trunk floor.

I don't understand ohms. Or wrms but I understand channels and I need two channels
