i was wondering if all 4g63t clutches are the same??????

You would be correct sir all clutches are the same the only difference is the flywheel from the 6 bolt to 7 bolt obviously LOL. You looking to just do a stock clutch

Man this is in the hangout can't believe I'm answering a tech question here.

Yes the flywheel needs to be properly resurfaced and stepped, everytime you take the trans/clutch off, or install a new clutch you need to check the surface/ resurface the flywheel unless you are very drivetrain savvy.

I would reccomend checking out TMZ Performance
I will fully back any clutch they sell as they are one of the best vendors out there for drivetrains!

(And DSMtuners based!)

RRE's Clutch And Flywheel Tech Info

Read that, understand it well.

Make sure all your transmission bolts get back into the trans when everything is all said and done. Two on the top, one on the front, and a small one that threads through the back going from the DRIVERS side as opposed to the passenger side.

Make sure to get a new clutch fork, and make sure to get an OEM throw out bearing (all which can be ordered from TMZ)

You can shim your pivot ball if you choose to, but should not be necessary when using all new components. (info on that is at the bottom of the link I posted)

Make sure ALL of the dowels get back into the transmission/engine block. They are just little cylinders that align the transmission.

Don't forget to lube the end of the input shaft so it slides easily on your clutch, as well as properly align the clutch so that is is correct with the pressure plate.

Also, lube the inside of throw out bearing and make sure you install the TOB clip correctly, as this is very important (looks like a little paper clip)

Now may be a good time to replace the hydraulic lines for the clutch with a stainless line, as well as replace your slave and master with OEM components.

I would recommend running Penzzoil syncromesh in the trans, as it has treated me very well.

I would get new flywheel bolts and make sure to loctite red them and properly torque them down to your crank.

I might be forgetting something, but I already typed you more than enough information.

Good luck!

What kinda turbo is that on there? It doesnt appear to be a 14b or any kind of 16g either, I wonder if it's an automatic 13g one.

I would honestly check out the car first. Because when i was in the market for a 1g, I test drove
a 16g 91 gsx (really nice interior) but on the test drive, I spun a rod:(
That could of happened to me if i didn't test drive it first.

he didnt make you pay for the damage? I dont like test driving because I'm afraid to break thier stuff LOL

I got lucky because he runs a local DSM shop around here, he just said it was "cool."
He told me to step on it, when we hit the highway..........................so ugh:)

Well thats cool, at least they didnt act like jerks and make you fix it or something. I'm not a fan of 1st Gens but I'm considered this AWD bad boy just to say I have one. I mean heck its AWD... its a DSM... it'll hold alot of power... AND I can get it for less than 1500 dollars.

i like the 1gs but thats me. AWD is where its at! You dont know launch until you ride in one. Its nice in a Jeep SRT 8 too LOL. thats the only thing thats beat me in a dig. Nice car keep updating.
