1g ecus have 3 plugs going into the ecu while 2gs have 4. Besides that your 2g is OBDII and depending on your state inspection regulations you would not be able to pass if they wanted to scan your car.
 
I can't think of one reason why you wouldn't just sell that ECU and get ECMlink for your 2g if that is what you want. They do not interchange and given the availability of stuff for 2g I wouldn't even consider it. 1g is older obviously and some people have benfitted from swapping to a 2g or evo ecu and the associated wiring changes that go with it. I wouldn't go backwards.
 
Your 1998 2g ecu is reflashable you can use free software called EVO scan very similar to ecm link so in my opinion you should sell the 1g ecu pocket the money and just use your factory ecu check out evoscan.com for more info on there software
 
No one does that I know of. I know I can make another one thow and it won't cost an arm and a leg.
