I am looking for set of forged piston but im stuck between this two. My goal is 500hp and as a daily driver. Which will put up to this much>

As a rule of thumb at work, Mahle are really good, nicely priced pistons to recommend to the NA crowd. Anything else look at a JE or Wiseco or Diamond (Diamond doesn't offer us a piston though if memory serves me right).

i heard good things about mahle for boosted applications and i can get them for about 430

I just picked up a set of Mahle pistons from Extremepsi for my 4g63t build I will be starting. I have done a ton of reading on these. Each crowd I have searched in (honda/subaru/dsm) all seem to be pleased with the results. Mahle is a great company with a heavy background in the racing world.
I plan on running about 350-400 hp for now untill things are the way I want them.

In most/all cases it all comes down to the quality of machining done.

My vote is Mahle.

I know everybody loves aftermarket pistons..But do you realize the stock 6 or 7 bolt bottom end will hold 400+?

I'm not even gonna mention the stock block record holder..

My vote is Manley but you already know that :D. Mahle makes nice bearings, but I'd never go with their slugs.

Already got around 1000 miles on my Manley pistons and 23 PSI boost. No problems so far. They survived a rod bearing failure as well

i would pick MANLEY OVER MAHLE. manley have coated side and are very budget friendly under $400.00. but if money is not issue, i would buy arias under $460.00 or ross over any other pistons

Diamond doesnt but MORALES RACING does have their custom 4g63 piston made by Diamond

you have to remember that not eveyone is good at tuning and a forged pistons are alittle more forgivein

MAHLE pistons also have two coatings on theirs. if you want a day in day out dd MAHLE are much better piston..WHY? ..its all about PTW clearance.
mahle are low exspanion 4032 much better for a street car. manley are 2618 stronger.but they need more room to swell.much better for fullblown racecar.

I VOTE MAHLE, FOR YOUR GOAL.

Here is MY list of pistons

best budget pistons IN MY EYES

1. MANLEY
2. WISECO NON HD
3. MAHLE 4032

best pistons IN MY EYES

1.ARIAS
2.ROSS
3. WISECO HD

I have used/sold/seen them all

The Manle 4032 pistons are recommed for cars running under 25 psi. from what MAHLE THEMSELF say its more of a stock replacement piston for person who will not be running the car hard, you can call them yourself and ask. they have another piston at are 2618 for cars running 25psi and over. so again at the end of the day the manley are the better choice for price and the boost they can take

for $30.00 bucks more buy a piston kit that will take whatever you throw at it

I forgot to mention this is for a 4g64 build

I have mahles, been on them for 12k no issues so far, holding a strong, steady compression ratio. (8.5:1 slightly higher than stock, 0.020mm over) Love how light they are, they're coated side skirts, and the low expansion. I've had quite a few 'running rich weeks' and they still hold 22psi daily!
Got them cheap with eagle rods from MAP!
My next build will be Mahle!

Seeing as I only have experience with Mahle and Wiseco HD pistons, I would vote for Mahle if you are looking for a more affordable piston.

They were amazing in my opinion and would still run them but I choose for a stronger piston for what my goals are and I got an amazing deal on the HDs'. The issue I had with the Mahle was from a horrible tune and ignorance to warnings, I caused some pitting from detonation and micro welded a piston ring shut.

They deffinatly held up to the abuse they went through, have a nice skirt coating as well.

Clearances were very tight as well which is a nice thing to have on a DD since there was no knocking occurring from looser clearances.

I will say that you don't need to make a thread on this as you can find enough info on most pistons in question by doing a google search.

1 they will slap on start up
25 psi on a 16g- -25 psi on a 35r. HUGE differance!
3 its your opinion. that manley coating is better.

not trying to be a dick but do alittle research first and I for one have run and sold both pistons before and MANLEY is the better buy. and me saying for $30.00 bucks is for ARIAS pistons.

I have been in the DSM game for over 15 years just trying to help.

My vote is mahle as im very satisfied with mine. Lightweight pistons and less wear potential IMO due to the clearances staying closer due to low expansion.

6 bolt or 7 bolt.. do you mean just the crank or the block and crank ?

Mahle is a very good piston but for what you are looking for I beleive Manley is the better choice. and if you still go with the Mahle upgrade to there 2618 piston.
