The donors AWD Rear bolts go in the recip FWD rear spot

That's correct for a spyder. For a coupe, you use both sets of awd ones.

Just drill out the spot welds, then rivit it to the chassis.

If I can get my hand under the car, I'll get a pic or two.

It sounds scarier than it really is.

Well me and my brother are attempting the awd swap on his 95 gst,we have a awd shell that is being dropped off at my house today:).
So I've read through this whole thread and it is very usefull and lots of info.i was wondering if there's anything that should be done first to save the headaches before we tear into it?
Thanks guys

First you'll need to get 2g drivetrain parts.

:dsm:

- Get the subframe bolts of the donor car first to be oriented where exactly to drill in the host car :)
- Remove everything around the shifter lever including seats and carpet before welding the driveshaft brackets.
- Make sure you have the AC compressor bracket from the AWD car.
...

Just recently picked up another AWD donor car. This drivetrain will be swapped into my 2gb Talon Spyder. I will probably start on the swap some time in the spring once it gets warmer.

I know most people are going to hate me for this, but here is the donor. It's a 99 with black leather, great paint, ~100k miles, and pretty much stock. Just waiting to be stripped...

The 2 biggest items that are very hard to source without having a swap shell is the rear carrier bearing bracket, and ac bracket.

I reused my front one. Just slid one of the bolts in from the bottom and drilled a hole into the cabin for the other to drop a bolt through.

Wow, that looks perfect! Have mercy, man!

The only thing that I have found wrong with the car, besides it having 16's, is that the sunroof shade is kinda messed up. I'm still undecided on what to do with the remainder of the car after it has been molested. Don't know if I will sell it, scrap it (my least favorite idea), or just cover it up and let it sit for a few years until it's time for one of the kids to start driving and rebuild it.

A small piece of me just died inside.

You should give/sell me that shell and then come strip mine for the AWD swap stuff.

I know, Paul. Don't get me wrong, it's really a nice car, and it breaks my heart to tear it apart like that, but the only reason that I bought it (for $2000, btw. Just needed an ECU and now it's a DD), was as a donor car. If you would like to come pick up the shell when I'm done with it, you are more than welcome to it, as I know that the home you would give it is a good one.

How about sell it and buy a crashed car you can strip the parts off. Should net you some extra cash for mods and it'll save a really clean GSX from destruction.

 So not fair! Couldn't find a crappier body for your AWD swap?! I've been looking for a nice 2g for a DD for CHEAP and all I find up here are POS ones that would be perfect just for the AWD parts but not as a DD as the bodies are crap.

Sell me that car and find another doner for your AWD swap! ROFL
