All i'm going to say is that the 420a motors girdle/oilpan design, was a huge waste of design... I mean who does all that for a 130-150hp engine.... I hate them things.... Turned a 30 minute tear down into a 24 hour nightmare.... damn that harmonic balancer.

I did something like this over the weekend. I spent about 20 mins between finding my test light and checking all the fuses, trying to figure out why my passenger window would not go down. Come to figure it out, the window lock was on. I felt like such a retard.

OMG i did the same exact thing the other day! most cars the driver can still control any window, even with the lock on. i was even starting to think about ordering a new window motor! :ohdamn:
then one day while sitting in a parking lot, i realized my mistake pushed the lock button. i then cussed myself out for a good 10 mins LOL

Talking to a local dsm'er the other day. He is running virtually the exact same setup as i am with apexi safc for tuning, he says "My gsx will spin all 4 tires through 3rd gear" LOL

And this thread is exactly why us self conscious noobies keep our mouths shut on stuff we have no idea about =)
Haha
and why I ask lots of questions

1. kid thought my strut bar was for the torque so the frame dosent twist hah nice joke
2.fought with a kid who though a gs and a gst was the same car just wit a kit and turbo

 Speechless!

Sorry to burst your bubble guys, but the 420a is a mitsubishi motor, it was originally designed and built in japan, the 4g63 is the successor to the 420a, and honestly all they did was swap the side the motor went on and lowered the compression so as to accomodate larger turbos. This fact is pretty obvious if you do a rebuild of both, you can use all the 4g63 internals, you just need to make some minor adjustments so that the opposite direction of rotation. The reason that it is mostly chryslers that have it is because of the complicated tradeoff involved in the mmoa buyout of the chrysler shares of dsm. No offense guys, but if you're really planning on bashing a motor, i would personally suggest that you get all the facts before you decide to do it.

Sorry if im overlookinjg this but I saw this and had to comment and didn't have alot of spare time to sit down and read the thread that was linked.
Umm is this a joke or not? Isn't the 4g63 part of the SIRIUS engine family from Mitsubishi that was around long before the 420a? I know the lower ends of these 420a's have alot of extra bracing similar to a 7 bolt 4g63 but everything else is different. Hence why 420a's can't handle boost and even built 420a's seem to have an issue handling boost.

I saw this post in my inbox and was about to RAGE on you for being serious about something so effin wrong! LOL than I saw the quote and the RAGE face went away!

I still laugh at being told that a talon is better than an eclipse because it has the evo drivetrain and the eclipse does not! Also being told that the 420a head was designed by lotus XD

Just had a new one. It's -50 outside today, so I figured it was time to finally RTV my oil pan heater to the pan. As I pulled on a lift, I saw a Cayenne red 2GB GS pull in. He's a new kid in Alaska, so he was winterizing. I talked to him about the car and he said the first thing he's putting in is a performance clutch. I told him not to waste the money, to take care of the basic maintenance first. The car is in BEAUTIFUL condition and completely stock. He told me he had a clutch issue and it's not working. He says he just bought a new master, slave and clutch lines. I tell him to open his clutch resevoir and it's completely dry. I understood he was new at the car thing so I tell him how to bleed it and put in DOT 3 fluid. After finishing the Explorer, I check up on him one more time to find that he had no DOT 3, so he thawed out some power steering fluid and used that. Notice the term "thawed out" and the note that it's -50 and not even Thanksgiving yet. He then proceded to tell me how a Mitsubishi is better than an Eagle because it's an import. I gave him a link to this site and my number to call me when he sells or wrecks it.

Im sitting in class on the supra forums and dsmtuners forums and theres a kid whos tellnig me that the mk4 Supra twin turbo is his dream car... And im like cool, so he saying that he is going to buy a 6speed twin turbo thats in like perfect condition... Some day for like 14k cash.. Im like...:beatentodeath:

... This coming from the same kid from whom the other day i was browsing the dsmtuners forums comes up to me and is like dude i almost bought an Eagle Talon before!! They are better than the Eclipse because its not Mitsubishi!!! Im like WTF:tease: kid pisses me off.... Now hes looking at challenger body kits... -.-

If he can get a great condition twin turbo supra for 14k cash.. Then i must be able to get a really nice dsm that runs 11 second 1/4miles for 3k cash right? haha

"Ya know what, this will decimate all AFTER you put about fifteen grand in it or more, if we have to, overnight parts from Japan."

:D

"I see an AIC controller. It has direct-port nitrous injection. Yeah, and a stand alone fuel management system. Not a bad way to spend 10,000 dollars. "

:p
