I have to agree with this. My friend got the internally gated one for his 7 blade HX35 on his 97 gsx. It never worked very well, and then the flapper actually fell off.WTF

Yea they are crap, it was taking forever for my car to spool up. I did boost leak tests and bought a rebuild kit because I thought the bearings might be bad. Pulled the turd off the car and the wastegate was stuck open. It turns out the arm on the outside was rotating on the shaft but not moving the flapper. I ended up welding the arm to the shaft but now I wish I had gone external instead.

My friend just pulled the turbo this past weekend to switch to an external set up, thats when he discovered the missing flapper. He picked up a tial 38 mm wastegate a few months back, and I found him a HAFE manifold from a member on here. I am very exited to see what the car will do once its back on the road.

Well after seeing the Evo3 16g in the 10's and now a T25 into the 10's the Hx35 is definitely able. Maybe I can be the first?:D

Travis, you got this. Those times have a high ten written all over it. You are really raising the bar and your car is running real strong and quite impressive. It's good to see someone sticking with the 5 speed (While it lasts..:thumb:)

Lets not forget you have quite a bit of mod's that have yet to be done, your tires are not the greatest, and your still dialing this beast in. I can't wait to see you hook one good time. I know one thing, I'll be there....;)

GOOBERLOG FOR PRESIDENT!!!!

YEA! What he said ^. Haha good weekend once again. Too bad you weren't .07 faster but good job as always brah!

Haha, thanks guys. Yeah the car really is running really well. I had about a half dozen things i could have improved on my one run and it still ran 11s. I was pretty happy with that. I honestly need more seat time with this set up, last weekend i only got 2 passes on Sat and 2 on Sunday since MIR was so packed. It wasn't until sunday that i made a decision on what RPM to shift at. I was just shifting when it felt right and when i remembered to. The car is also kinda falling on it's face between shifting gears sometimes, i really need to look in to a NLTS. I'll have to figure out where i can shave some weight since that roll bar is going to add some unwanted weight. Hoping to hit the track again in the next couple weeks to nail a new personal best and hunt down the BEP bolt on record. (No nitrous that is), I only use laughing gas at the dentist.

There are a few HX35s in the tens but non with the bolt on mitsu style turbine housing.

Whats the spool like on the 55 bolt on housing, on the hx35?

Like a big 16g.

So.. anyone go into the 10's on the BEP bolt on .55 A/R housing yet? (hx35)

Nope, record is 11.2

Yes, I am aware. I figured since the title of this thread has that info that I didn't need to reiterate it. I too am on the .55 BEP housing. We will see next season I guess.

Anyone with the BOH (bolt on housing) going to the track anymore this season?

I'll be there tomorrow running my car. not sure what to expect. It better be in the 12's or I'm not sure what to do. Transmission is on its way out the door though. Wish me luck. Island dragway for test and tune

well track day went ok i guess. long story short. first pass 13.0 @ 107 woith a 1.7x 60ft. very rich on top end. 2nd pass I leaned it out. Took out a degree or two of timing across the board and lowered tire pressures to 25 psi. netted a best of 12.9 @109 with a lower 1.7x 60ft. I found I had a boost leak at the lower intercooler pipe and my lb/min was about 10 less then what it usually logged at. I was spinning out of the hole and could have improved on my 60ft if it had hooked.

This was at 30psi, launch control at 5500 on the first pass and then 5700 on the second pass. shifting at 7300. I'll be posting a log and the pics of the timeslips on the holset results thread

Ewww. There's something waaaay wrong with that. You are missing about 11mph.

Trust me i know, You can see it in my log. over 10 lb/min is missing. Damn boost leaks. Im also thiking about ditching my magnus street intake for a stock one. I did put up my time slip pics and datlog on the holset results thread if your interested. I didn't want to clutter this thread up with my stuff. Didn't feel it was the right place for it.

Went to Mason dixon on Saturday and couldn't get a 60' better than 2.0 due to the wet box. I was getting sideways in second, i should have tried to do a better burn out. Got in three runs but my buddy blew his head gasket so i stoped racing to make sure my car would make it home with out the trailer. I did get a new best mph of 130mph, but couldn't run faster than 11.7

Today i went to Capitol for their last day of the year, made 3 passes. My first pass was my new best E/T of 11.56 @ 128 with a crappy 1.88 60'. The next pass was about the same running 11.58 @ 128 with a worse 60' of 1.91 and on the third pass something let lose in my trans and i had to go pick up a tow truck and tow it home.

Very happy to get the new personal best E/T and MPH this weekend, but really upset that i wasn't able to get my car to 60' better all week end. I have done 1.6's before with this car. It may be time to look at different tires. Once i get back from vacation i'll tear in to the trans and see what i broke. I was doing my best to nail this record, but due to the tracks being closed after today, it'll have to wait till spring now.

You have the MPH record for the bolt-on HX35. :applause:

Seeing as Gabe went 10.86 @ 129, you have a definite 10-second pass on the horizon with a better 60-ft. :thumb:

That is an extremely strong MPH with the bolt on housing! Congrats!

130 is definitely good for 10's with better track conditions :)

About to switch a friend's bolt on .55 hx35 car over to e85 in the next couple days and looking forward to it even more now! What fuel were you running by the way?

That sucks about the T-Case! I'm glad I have a spare sitting in my garage.

Well I did run an 11.1 this saturday with my .55 bep hx35, but I hit the nitrous in the middle of 2nd gear. But then the car started stumbling/hesitating at the top of 2nd because my gas tank was on super empty, so I think the fuel pump wasn't picking up fuel. But it only did it for a split second so I actually let off the spray because it went lean and then I got back on the spray in 3rd gear and said F-it. ROFL This motor has almost no compression anyway so whatever.

But honestly the best I've done without nitrous was an 11.37 so Mr. BeansblackTsi has me there.

Here's the slip, I swear if I would have had enough E85 in the tank this would have been a 10.99 pass. Just a couple weeks ago I went 6.96 @ 103 in the 1/8th.

Edit: Here's another slip. Used the spray to spool up here and then sprayed through 3rd gear, 75 shot by the way. But it's jetted super rich when in boost, AFR's are high 10's.

Then there was this run and for some reason the nitrous wouldn't activate, so I had to sit there on the line and stall up the converter without it. Then I tried to hit it mid track and only fuel sprayed so the motor bogged.

This ^ guy just set a new personal best on Saturday and i think has the BEP HX35 record now hopefully he gets in here and posts his slip

I went 10.97 @ 125.89mph this past saturday on my BEP HX35. I sprayed a 75 shot through it in 2nd and 3rd gear.

Thanks again man, all that mph on a turbo that you rebuilt by hand. :thumb:That's pretty bad a$$, I didn't know i had the mph record till tonight. Yeah I'm aware that she's got a high ten in her as it sits, but my 60's have been total crap lately. Doing some suspension work over winter/next couple weeks or months. I couldn't believe that it still ran a 11.5 with a awful 1.91 sixty foot LOL

That is an extremely strong MPH with the bolt on housing! Congrats!

Thanks man! I was on E85 maxing out my stock fuel system with a wally 255hp and 1600s. I'll be upgrading to a adjustable FPR and some AN lines soon. May add a pump too.

I think his 11.1 run was still on the spray. But yes he has the fastest BEP .55 HX35, 10.9 now (but again-on the spray) 11.2 is the bolt on record w/o nitrous.
