Maching the MC, possible? I'm sure, anything can be fabricated to work but by no means is it going to be cost effective or easy to do. If you don't like the pedal feel or brake response then spend the $200 extra bucks for the 300z BMC and 3g BB. The only fab work you have to do is the brake hardlines which is a simple DIY'er mod, they sell that stuff at any car parts store and you can rent the bender.

:dsm:

Hey Corey do you know if the 300z BMC and 3g BB also a bolt on solution for the 1gs?

How simple and straight forward would that swap of MC's and BB's be??? If its not too hard or expensive I would have no problem doing this as i really want that pedal feel!

For the 1g guys i have the 3g MC in mine and it was a bolt on affair i did not even change the reservoir. I did how ever have to bend some lines to the PV. If you need pics email me i don't log on to often any more. The brake feel just as good as my 11 lancer.

So we have to bend the lines because the connections are not the same as the ones we have now is that correct? Just trying to see how "dirty" this job might get. I definitely want that firm pedal though!

Yes. You can also use a SS line, it doesn't have to be a hardline, which will save some fab and headache when bending the hardlines. There's a place local to me that can create any length SS line I need though, if you can find a shop local to you that does the same then forget the need for bending hardlines.

:dsm:

Ok perfect! I have a place called fluid connectors that is right down the street from me, i can pick the diameter of the line as well as what end fittings and they will make it for me, is it better to get bigger lines??? Or will it matter because its just forcing the fluid in to the caliper.

Hey GOFER, This is just an idea BUT is it possible to use the MC from a evolution x?And we can use SS lines instead of making hard lines for it like you said . It's just an idea so if im wrong no problem

I like where this is going and will probably order the parts here in a few weeks. How tricky are the brake boosters to install? I know where they are at but am unsure as to what the job entails.

If I recall I believe the Stealth/VR4 TT and some model of dodge avenger/sebring MBC are 17/16" and bolt up to stock BB however the brake hose connections face the fender and you may need to take a hammer to the fender to make room for custom lines. Maybe SS flex lines would work better w/o needing the fender work.

Another note, you can make a brace for the MBC that attaches to the fender and stops the MBC from moving forward due to flex in the firewall. Some vendor used to sell a billet alum version but it was pricey. I have also seen other methods/brackets on other cars to do the same thing.

Wouldn't we be able to just do a female connection on the new braided hose and connect it to the already existing steel brake lines? That would be the cheapest amount of lines and the quickest install. Then installing would be a breeze. Lemme know what you think!

Certain 3G Eclipse models utilise a 1-1/16" master cylinder, and I have seen pictures of one fitted to a 2G, requiring only bending of the hard lines and switching to the 2G reservoir. Since I haven't tried this personally (yet) I can't guarantee this info to be 100%, but the data is solid enough for me to buy a 3G Eclipse m/cyl to try out.

FYI, no 1G Avenger/Sebring came with anything larger than a 1" MC.

the Stratus coupe based on 6g72 has the 1 1/16'' MC. I got mine off a Stratus

I'm still waiting to change to a 3g BB and 300z MBC myself, the two DSMers that I know who have gotten their hands dirty doing this already are deth2u and EclipseGSX1736.

:dsm:

Then this sounds more like the way to go unless just changing to the 3g brake master cylinder is sufficient.
I know I sure don't wanna go thru nstalling all this stuff only to have a mushy brake pedal feel. I sent EclipseGSX1726 a pm just now.

I am hoping this guys idea work as well.

Ya I'm definitely going to be doing this and have some ideas on making the install easier. When i order the parts i can post up a how to as well. Then it should be able to show everyone how easy/hard it should be to get a firm pedal with the evo brakes. Cant wait to get this started!

I was looking at Wilwood dual cylinder brake master cylinder. It has option to route on the left or right and has piston bore up to 1 & 1/8".

You should post a link to the product. It would be nice to start looking technical specs of an aftermarket MBC and see if it will applies to our applications. Wilwood makes so many MBC, I wanna see which one you are talking about.

Does anyone know the distance between each bolting hole on our stock MBC? And the diameter of the mounting holes, where the bolts go through?

That Wilwood BMC you were looking at is 8" long (from the firewall) and wouldn't clear the strut tower and who knows what else. I like the idea of cheap, bolt on, and stock appearing as well which is why the 3g BB and 300z MBC route is the one I chose.

Heres the link. Wilwood BMC

Both Brembo and Wilwood have nice info on their websites about relationship of calipers volumes and MC size.

I think going with the GSX would be a solution in most cases.
