ok guys gots a question ive had my car for bout 10k miles now and my 2g stock bov always had a nice hard crisp sound when shifting now it sounds like it is getting weaker and weaker sounding.. is this warning that it is going out? the only thing i have changed is a new cold air intake cone filter.. ??????

Do a BLT, if the air has other places to go less comes out of the BOV. Any other symptoms?

If your BOV is going out though, like bud said. Don't bother getting a new 2G, might as well just get the 1G and an adaptor.

As stated above, upgrade that BOV.

The 2Gs are notorious for having cheap plastic pieces of junk that leak. Get yourself a 1G or a proven BOV w/the adapter, and don't forget to recirculate.

Also, do you have an aftermarket boost gauge? If not, I would suggest getting one.

They are cheap and easy to install and make your life a lot easier when trying to figure out what in the world is wrong with your car. It's a must for any turbocharged vehicle. Don't go off of the stock boost gauge. That gauge gets its reading from fairy land.. erm the MAF.

You can read the boost gauge and tell if you aren't hitting full boost, or if your vacuum is decreasing at idle causing you to idle weird because of a leak.. heck you can even save gas mileage by knowing how close you are to atmospheric pressure before shifting to avoid getting into boost. That pays for the gauge itself over time.

aight thanks for the replies guys.. yes i have planned on getting a 1g bov just haven't really needed to since mine has been working i really haven't had this car to long to really put much money into it except for the majors like new clutch kit, new transmission, water pump, timing belt / kit, 3 in cat back exhaust, 18 in rims and little other cosmetics but yeah im just starting to get into performance and under hood upgrades thanks for the suggestions on the 1g bov tho..

Did you replace the filter or the stock intake pipe and filter?

yes i replaced my old cold air filter cone, it was a injen 6" fitting cold air filter cone. couldn't find a 6" fitting cone locally, so i bought a 4" auto zone cold air filter cone and the 4 inch adapter plate but i don't think that has anything to do with it because the bov started sounding weaker before i replaced the filter ..

i don't know if this is connected to same issue or not but i have noticed sometimes my car will idle in different spot, meaning sometimes when i am parked or stopping at a stop sign sometimes my rpm's will be like 500 or less sounding like it is gonna stall "but never does" and sometimes it will be idling higher 1000 to 1200 and sound great .. not to sure what to make of it, was just gonna adjust the idler screw and see if that helped... any insight to this??
