I don't have one of these hoods, but i do have a vent cut into mine. The only issue i have is the manifold has a little surface rust....i live in maine and it is exposed to rain and SNOW. Once the manifold is heated up, all the rain is going to do is evaporate as soon as it hits it.

Well i am thinking about buying a vis evo style hood for my 1g, but i dont know how it would look on my car, and i was wondering if anyone actually has this hood on their 1g so i can look at it and determine weather or not i am going to buy it and have it painted to match my car, plus it cuts a little weight off cause its carbon fiber and allows some heat to escape out of the engine bay through the vents on top of the hood. So if anyone that has a 1g has this hood on their car let me know, thanks.

Not sure which one I have but its got the big Evo vent on it. It was made by VIS and came with a fiberglass piece that is removable to cover it if you want. That said I do not use the piece and I have been caught in rain with no problems.

I have a VIS hood (forget the name) that has 3 pretty large vents. One over the manifold one over the intake and one over the ps pump.. I have the fiberglass piece that covers the whole area and I use it pretty often now that Im back in Wisconsin.. Pretty much only take it out when Im going on a longer drive and there isnt a chance of rain. I still bring it with.. I have forgotten to put it in at night and its rained and there hasnt been any problems but I just dont like the heat wrap pooring smoke out of my hood until all the water evaporates that was soaked into the wrap..

Im not really a fan of hood cutouts, but a buddy of mine has an EVO hood on his 2g. He gets a bit of surface rust on the manifold when it sits for a while. Every now and then it will stall in the rain when the water gets in the filters.

I doubt that is the reason why it stalls.

I know I have been wondering what the Galant VR-4 vents would look like mounted in a 1g hood... You can even buy carbon fiber or fiberglass copies of them from tunernation.

Well, looks like i am going to order the VIS-Evo style carbon fiber hood for 1990-1994 dsm's for my car and get it painted dark blue, like i said, it cuts the weight down a bit and lets some of the heat out of the engine bay, and plus it looks cool and hardly no 1g owner has this hood on their car.LOL

Thats just for the 90 models, I have this hood for my 1GB Talon but haven't installed it yet. Having Aerolatches installed first and then it goes on, will post as soon as its done.
