Which is a more streetable turbo for a 97 GST? Running on 93 octane, built 6 bolt block and 1G ported head with ARPs. All proper fuel and tuning mods. Cost is no issure because they cost exactly the same. Externally gated with FP's o2 housing and an EVO III exhaust manifold. All input is greatly appreciated. Thanks guys

I would also agree with Ty. I wish I would have bought a 3052 when I did it. You are a little misled about your price thing though. The average 3052 setup will cost more than the Green setup. The Tial 44mm is expensive and you will need either FP's O2 housing of make your own.

If money isn't an object, I'd defently go with the 3052. I think the above stated spool time of 3800 on a 2.0 L might be abit low. Staytuned runs the 3052 and I thought he spooled a couple hundred rpms later? As for the Green when I talked to FP about spool, when I estimated it would spool around 3800 they said no, not for a 2.0L, by the sounds of it it would be more in the 4000 or slightly over range.

My Green on a 2 litre makes 17psi (my current boost level) at 3796 RPM. I would expect the 3052 to spool at a similar time.

I am a huge fan of the 3052. Spool up is good so far, 25 psi at 3900 in 4th gear and 25 psi at 4300 3rd gear. I pull 3.1 secs 60-90 mph in 3rd with my mods and tuning.

Edit: these figures were derived from DSMlink logs. The wastgate appears to open at the above mentioned rpms. All cars will vary of course.

spool will be very similar with both turbos, but the 3052 has more power potential and is more efficient. Its also more expensive when you factor in the custom o2 and external wastegate.

I am faced with the same decision for my new setup. Part of me wants to go with Green for the sake of simplicity, and the other part screams 3052 because it is the "new thing". I would have to say I was thinking it would be external WG for either one through with the additional cost still being in the Greens favor because of the O2 housing needed for the 3052, but not by as much. It seems it is best to run a big turbo like these on a external WG regardless.

Does anyone know how much air these turbos flow? I personally would go with the 3052 Dual ball bearing is what everyone wants, not only will the spool be faster but the longitivity of the 3052 is far greater then that of the green.

Yeah i am trying figure out witch turbo i am going to get too, but i want the best responsive turbo between the FP Green and the FP3052 for more car, and cause i am really into auto-cross racing more than anything else. When i get back to the states in February/September time frame i am redoing my car and dropping a fully built 2.3stroker in it among other things, but i want to know witch turbo would be best for what i am going for, i am not worried about the price of it all.:hmm:

A few guys are saying how the FP Green will be cheaper because of not needing a custom o2 and external wastegate, but I'm curious is the internal gate on the Green good enough to prevent boost creep when you're only running say 20-25 psi on the streets?

Well, 5 years ago when this thread was started, the FP Green was a totally different turbo and I was in the same boat trying to decide between the 2 turbo's. I chose the 3052. Actually, at that time I got the 3055 but that was damaged and rebuilt as a 3052 (3055 no longer available and 3052 was/is better according to FP). Now, I don't think I'd even be considering the Green since it's no longer made with MHI parts.

It should be ok, It's more of the flapper being blown open, because of a lack of spring pressure. If you were to use a two port actuator like this Turbo Wastegate Actuator T3 T3/T4 T04E 2 Port 3" Rod | eBay and then used a pressure regulator to feed pressure back to the bottom side it will hold pressure like a rock. I'm bailing externals to use an internal in the manner on my hx35.

I would go with the green myself for the bang for buck aspect. The 3052 has a bit more head room and a better housing, but its going to cost you a good bit more.

Yeah sorry about that its actually and external waste gate, i seen it and just assumed it was a internal waste gate, Anyway will the external waste gate that it comes with work fine with the 2.3 motor, or should i upgrade to a different waste gate?

Im not trying to seem like i am just asking questions, but i am really trying to find out what i need and the cost of everything, you see i am making 20,000 plus dollar from this combat deployment when i get back and i am spend 16,000 on my car, i am just trying to make sure i am buying the right parts ahead of time so when i get back i can just order parts off a list and not wait around asking questions wasting time.:coy:
