Short and simple. I'd like to run speed density. I'm torn between AEM ems and Link v3. Most on here say Link v3 would be the way to go. When I was at STM. Emery and Corey said AEM. I'm in the dark here. Also what else would I need besides an upgraded MAP sensor? I understand that Link is more user friendly and comes with great support. Both are proven. I will not be doing the tuning. I know someone locally for street tune, when I go all out I'll more than likely take it to STM. Any good information would be appreciated. Thanks.

An IAT sensor is a good idea to have.

Pick whichever one fits your setup, if you need more than what you can get with v3, buy AEM.

Read the below links from end to end, you're comparing apples to oranges.
Don't ask which of the above you should go with, ECMLink or AEM EMS, ask the tuner you go with how much it would cost to tune one or the other. I'm almost certain that it would cost you twice as much to have someone tune AEM EMS than it would ECMLink.

What are the end all be all goals for your DSM? There are DSM'rs over on ECMLink forums seeing over 1000awhp running V3.

End goals are only around 400ish. Streetable.

End goals are around 400. I'm actually doing a similar set up to yours. FPhta68, Fp mani, Stock block 7 bolt. I'll build up the head a bit. More than likely going with GSC s1's or some kelford 264's.

Link is all you would need however EMS has a lot more features and it may just be their preference. One is a standalone while the other is a chip.

Both are very capable but one is about double the price of the other.

Link will do everything it sounds like you want it to do, and whoever said link would be cheaper to tune....I'll second that, I asked the guy who does my tuning when I was researching that, he said safc/maft would be the most expensive to tune, then an EMS, then link.
There are other options out there, look into ostrich/werewolf or jackal, there are some people who are really satisfied with that, and its apparent simplicity. I didn't go with the ostrich route myself, simply because the guy doing my tune wasn't comfortable with it.

For someone new to tuning and trying to make 400hp, there is exactly zero reasons to spend twice as much on a system that is three times as complicated and takes four times as long to learn.

Go with ECMLink and be happy. :)

I agree. If your looking at mid power goals like that ecmlink is all you need. It has a much smaller learning curve than AEM. Once you learn link and are comfortable you can use that knowledge to help you move onto other EMS like AEM.

They tell you AEM because its the best on the market, but its not needed for you goals.

Thanks everyone. What about a speed density set up?

I would go with link. No reason to pay twice as much for an AEM when you can get everything you need with link.

If you wanna go with SD, I would just get the SD package from ECMTuning.
