I will be picking up the car next week from the Fab shop. I will have more pics then.

Was wondering what the measurement in on your solid axle rear from axle to axle? That is a GREAT looking car.

Finally got the car home. This thing looks even better in person. The fab work on this car looks great. I took some better pics today. Pardon the surface rust. I have to get everything painted soon.

The Ladder bars are attached to the roll cage through the floor so he didn't have to install an additional cross member (clever). The area where the Ladder bar support comes through the floor is reinforced with heavy steel plates. Nate tells me that this area will see a lot of stress during the launch so it had to be super Strong

E-brake had to be moved to the other side so that the seat would fit. The seat had to be mounted lower so I could have enough room. The floor had to be modified to make it fit. Clearance between the shifter and the e-brake is fine.

This is the FIRST 1g cage I have EVER seen that made me jealous of them in comparison to mine. You sir have an amazing suspension setup that even the fastest of the fast guys wold be jelous of. No one out side of shep is rollin like this in the unibody.

Major props. If this project ever gets parted, that shell's mine! Hahaha.

Admittingly so however, a lot of that overkill stuff adds more weight than performance

Thanks man. A lot of the stuff Nate did without me asking; he just said it had to be done. He is expensive, but he really takes care of you. I have no regrets. Yeah it adds some weight, but I rather be safe in the end.

What are you seeing that is overkill? It all looks pretty straight forward no frills, pure necessity to me.

Some people think I shouldn't show pics of the rear setup so that people can't copy it. I think this is the wrong mind set in our community. Everything I have done or had done to this car I learned from other build threads. Literally, I could show you the links I have in my favorites to multiple threads on this site that gave me step by step instructions. Also, guys like Jeff bush, Kiggly, just to name a few, who respond to my PMs when I ask them about their setup. Trust me if it wasn't for this site and the guys on here who are willing to share their secrets, I could not build this car. So I have no problem sharing. I want all DSMs to be fast.

First and foremost thank you for the pictures and your fab guy is TOP SHELF!
I agree with you whole heartedly. I'm 31 and have cut my teeth on 5.0 Mustangs and LS1 cars decades ago. I have been into DSMs for around 5 years and I have noticed that most people are reluctant to share info on this side. Which is the flipside of the other platforms. That being said, I also have asked Jeff Bush a few questions ( we all know where he is in the " foodchain"). He has always answered.

But, Maybe this mindset is why Auto DSMs have caught on 20 years after they where built.:hmm:

Sorry but, You are wrong. There are several local guys here running a live axle.

I agree, thank you for posting pictures and info. Just because someone sees how you did something doesn't mean they will copy it directly. Sometimes pictures can spark ideas on how to do something, this progression is what really helps the community.

I'm glad to see that you are sorry but you should be sorry for not knowing what you are talking about.

You think I don't know how many guys are running live axels, 8.8s etc? I was talking about the craftmans ship. Its a gorgeous setup.:thumb:

Oh, I know what I'm talking about. I just don't brag.:thumb: I guess I misunderstood your quote.

The silly thing is is that regardless of if you show pics, the place that is doing the work should know how to set it up in the first place..

I'm sold, I want a solid axle set up for the rear and I would love to put a tube front end under my car as well. I'd be building mine with an lsd. I just wonder how streetable this is. I refuse to pull my car off the street and make it track only. Thats where the fun stops for me. This looks like it would be quite bulletproof. I'd only plan on maybe hitting 10's in my car one day so I dont think I have to go as wild. I also wish more people would psot pics of this solid rear set up and some of the measurements. With a welder and tape measure I think any person with a lift and a welder can tackle this. Info on the adapter for the rear drivesahft yoke would be appreciated if you can supply it. I hope this car lives up to the quality its seen so far and doesn't end up on a part out list. Good luck and please keep the progress updated.

Im curious on how much flex the rear has with the ladder bar set up, I also wonder how this could still be used in Auto-x.

To everyone who is questioning the weight of the rear end setup, On my 2g It will be a 34 lb weight loss for me. Im sure on the 1g it will be slightly less than 34 lbs but Id imagine still a fair drop. Props on the build, Cant wait to see it done!

A four link would be better for the street (much more adjustability). You must get an LSD center section to run a live axle on the street; it is very difficult to push this car with a spool around turns. While the setup looks simple, there is a lot that goes in to making the ladders work on the DSM. You have to understand things like: Center of Gravity, Instant Center, and Percentage of Rise (I only understand a little because Nate explained it to me). Regarding the drive Shaft, I am having a custom shaft made by The Drive Shaft Shop.

I don't know the weight difference. The reason I didn't get the 8.8 is because the fab work cost the same. So I decided to just get the 9 inch.

My dad keeps teelling me that i need to put a 9" in the rear for over 9 years and he could never figure out why no one had done it yet then he saw sheps car back in 06and was amazed to see that someone finally did it.

Now people see that they work and are putting them in and actually posting pics of how it is setup

THANKS FOR THE PICS THEY WILL HELP inspire me to put one in

Thanks. I hope you do get one; your car is a beast.
