It's been over a year since I took the clutch out and can't recall which way the TOB clip goes. I took a picture of it both ways. The manual doesn't show clearly AT ALL! which way.

Anyone care to tell me which picture is correct.

Thanks.

I put mine in like the first picture but mine was flush with the TOB. It didn't stick out so much when it is in place. What brand TOB is that?

That top part that is sticking up should snap onto the tob. You got it right, it just needs to be clipped on.

Here's another pic I took, is this what you mean?, I have to pull the clip back just a bit I thing so it sits on the rim of the TOB, correct?

As for the TOB, it's a Mitsu OEM.

I always forget the great and very useful VFAQ. I checked it out and there was a picture that shows the clip in the correct orientation as to the TOB and it is what I have in post #4. So thanks for the input guys.

I installed mine yesterday..the holes in the TOB ear...are there for the clip..insert the clip points into the holes. And try to find in which position it stays flush with the TOB

Thanks. I think I have it now.

Just found this searching as well if the pictures still don't make sense or you are unsure.

Oh wow. Mine is installed upside down and backwards, apparently.
It's all starting to add up now..

EDIT: but all the same, now I feel better. It's likely not the TOB alone that I'm hearing with the clutch pedal up (not down), it's likely to be the clip rubbing the parts that rotate, meaning it's not really a TOB waiting to explode? ... Just thinking out loud. ;)

Good to see and I think mine, thankfully, is on the correct way!

A note that if you buy any of the cheap ass china clutch release bearings that you have to bend your current clip to get it seated correctly in the new ridge that was made instead of a part that stuck out. My advice is to bend the clip and make sure it stays in there, you have to bend it alot, move the fork and make sure it doesn't come off because who want's to pull the transmission again? anyone? and clean the surface the bearing moves on the tranny and then grease it a little and the splines as well.
