I am not trying to criticize, just point a few things out that i would do differently.

I appreciate it, I really do. But before you criticize me, read what I have posted earlier in this thread. I understand what I am doing may not be up to par with some of the worlds best builders out there. But this is my first time doing something like this, I am learning vast amounts every minute I am working on it!

Damn, Cory. You're not going to have a car if you keep cuttin' this one up. Really impressed with how far it's gotten, man.

He is going about it the right way the body of the car will have no structure function, his chassis is the one that has to correct and if he has someone with 30 years exp., helping out I know he will be ok. The body will be there for looks.

I have the same feeling as BryanWheat in that I would have thought that you'd build the cage and tie it to the part of the body that you plan to keep before cutting out the stuff you don't plan to keep, but I'm also quite willing to mostly sit back and watch, and see what happens. In any event, it looks like a very fun project.

A little update. The body is now well under 200 lbs with the doors and windshield out. Potentially another 20 lbs is yet to come. Anxious to see what the final weight of the body will be, I have already passed my goal of 200 lbs.

WOW! Keep it up, glad to see you're making fairly steady progress on this thing. I cna't wait to see the final product

Thanks everyone! I actually think I have found a way to get the body under 150 lbs, but lots of the cutting will be scary. Ill have to go back and reinforce the body with moly afterwords for sure. Once I am happy with the weight of the body, the main chassis build will begin!

At this point, dropping weight is kind of a deminishing return isn't it? Wont it just add to the complexity and expense of the rest of the chasie build?

Well the goal is to have a final weight of under 2000 lbs (with me in it) if possible. Every little bit counts. It will add to the complexity and expenses but I feel that in the end it will help. Every little bit counts. Really cutting out the unibody supports I am looking at and replacing with moly should not be that bad, more or less a scary thing to do. I dont see it as being a problem though since the body is so light as it sits right now. I feel as though another 30-40 lbs can be dropped by doing this.

Well best of luck to you. So far this is pretty wicked... Just whats your goal with this thing far as ET? Is the chasie going to be built purely with drag racing in mind? I ask just cause im wondering if your considering entering the car in some other type of racing.

Honestly, I have no goal for ET. I would like to see where I can get with the HTA 3586 first then go from there. The chassis will be certified for 7.49 and quicker. The possibilities are truly endless. Guess it depends if I ever become satisfied with one specific setup.

Alright, Thought I should update a little bit. Does not seem like a whole lot of progress has been made but there has been a considerable amount. The body is to the point where I am happy with the weight, so the real work can begin. Had to include a picture of what a sharp chunk of metal can do to your nose too!

Alright so its been a while. Little update but big news! Just got bendtech Pro in the mail and started designing the chassis. This program is AMAZING. You can calibrate all of your dies, It tells you where to mark your tubing to start the bend and even tells you how much it will weigh based on the material! Also The JD2 bender will be ready with an all new hydraulic ram to make bending that nasty stuff easier. Also my last shipment of tube will be here tomorrow. Everything is coming from AEDmotorsports and let me tell you are these guys awesome! and CHEAP. Ordered today and it is expected to arrive tomorrow. Anyways stay tuned for further updates and pictures of whats to come!

Looking Good Man!!, Cant wait to see the finished product!

Can't wait to read the next update. That said, whenever you get this thing finished, would you mind posting up the matierals used and total cost of the build?
