First off I don't know where to put this, there is no good sub-forum for this kinda question so if it needs to be moved please do

So I have both subframes out and would like to know a good way to be able to tow the car to the body shop to get paint work done . I am not putting the subframes back in until I get my drivetrain stuff back from Shep and anyways it prob will be a while until I get them back and would like to have the engine bay painted and some dents taken out and whatnot. I saw these 2 different dollies at the body shop and they said I can use them if I want but I think the wheels are to small to be moved too far (about 30 blocks). If I did use one of them I know that I prob would have to go like 5mph and under the whole way but idc or even push it the whole way at the crack of dawn with no one around. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Do you know anyone with a flatbed trailer. Just about any type would work as long as you can put the body on it and rachet strap it down. I'm in Iraq and I cant help but laugh at the people here they will take riding lawnmower sized tires and right up some square tubing the width of the vehicle with the wheels attached at both ends and set the body on the tubing and tow it like that. It works just doesn't look very good. But that is with the front end suspended or another setup of the same type for the front. I would look into finding someone with a trailer.

What about using their chassis dolley to help load it on a trailer?

I once had to haul a 2G chassis to the scrap yard and it didn't have subframes either. Me and 7 other guys basically picked it up and carried it onto a car trailer. It was a huge PITA and it took a while, so not as easy as it sounds.

Local tow place by me will pick up a car on their flatbed and bring it to anywhere in a 25 mile radius for $50. Maybe check with places like that around you?

The problem is that those places require the car to roll at a minimum. Otherwise, how do they get it loaded onto the flatbed?

You are making it way more complicated than it has to be. You are also going to make it more complicated for the body shop. Think about how they are going to roll it around in their shop? Just throw the subframe and suspension back under it. IT should take an hour or 2. The time that you took to write this thread and wait for responses you could of already had it done.

I am not putting is back together without the rear which was sent to Shep and then taking it back apart to put it back in. The subframes were also powdercoated and I do not want to get any paint or dust from the body work or damage them from taking them in and out. On dollies it will we 1000 times easier to move around because u are able to move it sideways and any which way on the dolly, without the motor in the car it will be harder to move with trying to push it around on its own wheels.

What do i know, i just do this stuff for a living. it is WAY easier to move a car around with suspension and wheels than without. Obviously you have all the answers so you shouldn't have to ask this here huh>

See this is the reason I don't post here. Its people like you that give this site a bad name. I asked a question, gave the circumstances and you gave no help to that cause. :toobad:

I told you the most rational thing. That is it. You are getting it painted and want to move it around without wheels, great way to scratch the hell out of it. You are obviously more worried about the subframe than how your paint is going to turn out. Think about it. Loading it and unloading it, towing it, moving it around once you get it back. You are going to scratch the paint. Moving it with wheels on it is 100 times easier than putting some make shift built dollies under it, that is the truth. I am sorry that the rational way of doing it hurts your feelings.

Also if you would go look at all the post's that i post on here, and tell me that i am not helpful. You just didn't get the answer that you wanted to hear. By the way you DO NOT have to remove the subframe to install the rear differential.

I am just painting the ENGINE BAY as stated in the first post and having the front radiator support replaced not painting the whole car. The whole car will be painted when the car is back together and out of harms way from being reassembled.

Please elaborate on how you get to the top bolts!

You put the bolts thru the subframe before installing it. Than when you are installing the differential you raise it to the bolts, get them started and tighten them with a wrench. IT is kind of tight, and you can even loosen the subframe mount bolts to get a little extra room. It is pretty simple to do though. As for the front subframe, and good body shop should be able to mask around the subframe and you will get no paint or anything on it.

Ok I will keep in mind.
