So I read the epically long thread about all the strut tower rust and DIY repairs. I was just wondering if anyone in the Illinois region knows anyone who does a decent job for a somewhat reasonable price. Or two, if anyone knows or would be willing to help me take on this task, seeing how I have zero experience welding?

Any and all help appreciated as always.

Put up pics of said strut tower rust..

IF you are really that concerned..I would find a shop to cut and weld in some new sheet metal..

If you do it yourself it will be cheap..

But your not an experienced welder so again I would suggest finding a buddy, a buddy's dad, or a body shop..To hook you up....probably not gonna be cheap, but what quality work is cheap these days?

a guy i went to auto-body school with works at a high-end shop in chicago, not sure how far that is from you. let me know, hes always looking for side work

I actually think I have a welder lined up to help with the weld, ironically a lady I work with, her husband is a contract welder. But he is always out and about on jobs, so it's a matter of coinciding schedules. Besides I hate to inconvenience anybody. But F*** it!

In terms of cutting it out, would I be better off cutting it out with my dremel and a metal cutting attachment. Although I'm a little sketched out about a blade breaking and flying off. Or should I have the welder use his plasma cutter, or is the plasma cutter a little to much to me using around that strut and shock?

Sorry for the delay, been a bit busy at work. Here are the pics some of you asked about.

You have a lot to cut out, I'd use a cut off wheel. You'll spend a fortune on dremel discs. Over the winter I am going to be pulling my motor and welding my towers in hinckly, which is about 20 minutes from you. If you can wait I'll weld them for a case of beer :) mind you I am not a professional, but I can make it happen.

Dude, I work in hinckley. hah. The lady I work with, her husband is a contract welder who lives in hinckley. So if for some reason, he gets wrapped up in other stuff. I'm def going to hold you up to that offer man if your still up for it at that time. Around when in the winter, so I can check back up?... Small world. LOL

Sure thing man. I'm not sure when I'll be there, I'm building the new motor from scratch at the moment so it won't be ready to drop in for a little while.
