whats the one thing that really bugs you about your dsm?

discuss

It really bugs me how the hardest part of any job on my car is done decently easy but something really small or simple ends up wasting 4 hours of my time. For example, replaced all my rear bushings and I spent about 3 hours trying to get the gunk off the hug to the rear knuckle because it wouldn't break loose. Such a pain

Not being able to buy a lot of the OEM parts new from the dealer anymore.

The fact that everytime I think I have everything fixed and running right and I buy something for it boom random problem occurs when it's about to be delivered. For instance, last week I order a pr fmic day before it's delivered my car starts running like crap and I can't figure out what's wrong.

One thing? XD It really bugs me that I could get 30 mpg's on the interstate but the driver enjoys the sound of the cams too much at higher rpms :shhh:

Wheel hop.

The fact that 5th is geared to be over 3k RPM at the 70mph speed limits, and it's loud at that RPM with my exhaust. And cops don't like it.

Sunroof rattle.... sometimes it sounds as if it's going to break off over train tracks and potholes. Maybe I could tighten it a little.

The horn sounds wimpy.

The visibility out of the back. Especially when backing up, and especially at night. Maybe the 97-99 backup lights are better, but mine seem useless. Not just the lights, but the visibility altogether. Sort of have to get out and survey the area before backing up. I almost never park where I'll have to backup. Might run over 20 schoolchildren leaving the grocery store.

the fact that my car runs and drives fine, but i cant drive it because i need a 25 dollar starter plate, which means taking the trans out

That it keeps tempting me so I tear it back apart and mod it some more. Get it running again, temptation strikes, repeat. LOL

My 2g - the little annoying issues that I don't feel like dealing with on a daily driver... like the broken blinker mechanism, the broken door handle that was replaced but still has to be rekeyed to match my key, the broken exhaust manifold stud, the leaky valve cover gasket, you get the idea.

My 1g - just the fact that there aren't many parts available for it anymore, and weren't a ton to begin with. That's just a result of the car being old, but also a result of the community just not creating a demand for the type of parts I want (quality parts, not cheap inferior crap). The very thing that makes these cars cool - the ability to make them fast cheaply - has also hurt the aftermarket support since DSMers are notoriously cheap.

Knowing my car turned 20 years old this year eliminated a lot of annoyances with me, i expect the little problems haha. But im going to have to agree with the lack of OEM parts. I hate having to go to the auto salvage in prayers that they may just have a DSM lying around for me to pick apart. And the amazing paint they used haha!

On my old car, I was able to swap the actual lock cylinder over to the new handle. Something you might want to investigate.

That my car will boost 25 lbs all day but only run a 14.98 -1/4..?
And
The Fact that for every 1 hr my stuff runs good , I spend 6 hrs wrenching on it....

Having to pick apart the previous owners "work ethic" to fix it to proper standards.

And seeing all the ricers turn these cars into junk...

Tried to think of one but i really couldn't... I guess i just accept it for how and what it is and am happy with it all around.

Rattles.
Boost leak at TB due to a nut being shimmed on one side :ohdamn:
Lack of money to paint my 2gb bumper & swap tires over to my 2gb wheels.

27 hrs & counting til I am less lacking of money ROFL
