:D yaaaaaaaaaa!

Oh the Bat-Mo-40 is done and ready to be picked up. ;)

Awesome man thanks! Maybe I will bring your trans, and my old 40 up this weekend...

Don't forget I have the dogbox too :)

Funny thing is guys, the job I have been working at all week, their address is 987 ---- rd, so thats what Im going to run!!!..LOL
Burkgonzo; hope your guess is right!

Dave,

This is just awesome. I am truley happy for you and am pretty excited myself to see you clip the 9. I too thought these were only intended for the track, but after seeing this video:hmm:..... All I can say is wish I had a credit card and god bless my stage 4. LOL

Anyway..Go out and show those Bullseye boys what your made of.

MY GUESS- 9.87 @ 146

Wait a minute...:hmm:

Very nice, can't wait to hear the new restults once the new wheel and other parts are dialed in and working nicely together

Booooo on the Batmowheel wheel. Not a hx40 powered car anymore to me.

But im very interested to see how it does. LOL

Definitely not an HX40 anymore but still wish for the best.

Its about as much of an HX40 as an FP68HTA is a 16G...

With that being said, I want one for my HX52..

I'm hoping and praying the difference and efficiency between the two is compatible to the difference to the 68hta and the 16g! Boy this is going to be sweet! :)
Good Luck

p.s.
And whats up, you think it would be efficient and worth it to make one for a 14b :D I kindof dont want to part with mine but would love to get some more power out of her! ;)

14b for sure wouldn't be worth it. Just grab a 16G and be done with it.. Hell, people are proving the 68HTA wasn't worth its fat $900-11-- price tag when it came out when they started damn near matching the times with E316Gs..

If i remember correctly the wheel is about 200 bucks or so + shipping. (i could be wrong but i swear i saw that some where)

And i would say even though the components shoudl be VSR balanced allowing you to simply bolt them together and go, it's always best to have the assembly balanced as a whole with the wheels position relative to the turbine maked so it can be re-aligned during re-assembly in the CHRA. Balancing is typically about 30 - 50 bucks at local diesel/turbo shops.

wether people consider it a true hx-40 or not anymore still doesn't change the fact that Dave is doing something pretty amazing for the budget of the build. although I will agree that the budget is starting to rise drastically with the additions of a dog box (6 thousand bucks alone) and the other things like the batmowheel, new FMIC core and such that are slowly sneaking their way into the car (donated or not, for others to do the same they are going to have to shell out the cash). Sadly it's now becoming a standard build 10 second car, but i'm still inspired by the fact that the shortblock is still just the standard wiseco/eagle combo, which makes me feel good about pushing my same shortblock harder and harder. But either way in the begining when it was damn near the same set of mods most people are driving around on, the results were amazing and inspiring for others to try and go as fast on similar setups. But, myself i lost hope in duplicating the the results when the dog box went in. (still wish i could get one of those alone, but unless i hit the lotto or something i don't see that happening any day soon)

but either way i still commend dave and the crew on their efforts and results, and I can't wait to see him go faster and faster.. for those of us who can't afford a dog box, lets not forget that auto's are getting into the 10's with very few mods and going much faster with about half the cash outlay one would have into a 6k dollar shep trans. (2k for IPT to build it and 1k for a good converter and you've got a solid 9 second trans, then it becomes the typical go fast question of "what breaks next?")

Didn't shep go 8's on his stage 4 manual trans as well? Dogbox isn't exactly necessary...esp not for a 10 second slip! That dogbox is probably laughing at the power being put to it at the moment. :D

Think I'd go RWD with a glide before dropping 6k on a dogbox... Thats painful expensive!

But it's still an unmodified HX40 turbine, cover, and center housing. The 68HTA requires the cover to be machined, so it's more of a modified turbo than the Bat-Mo-40.

Do you feel that FP HTA3586 users are not eligible for 35R records?

Any idea on the cost to upgrade to that wheel?
Site says pricing begins at $399.

Do you have to balance the assembly again?
No.

DAVE is the one on the budget, not the car. He's never really cheaped out on anything that went into this car- he's just proving that with enough determination anyone can get to his goal no matter what their budget may be. He's worked three jobs at once in the past just to fund his car- there are no excuses!

This is only a new billit wheel correct? Same cover, turbine, center, ect... The 3586HTA's require a new cover and change the exducer as well as slapping in a billit wheel.

This billit Hx-40 is closer to stock form than any other billit turbo on the market. It will probably gain quite a few lbs.min with those "bat" like tips. I think this is awesome. An HX-40 on steroids...

What is this supposed to push 75+ lbs/min?

Just because a syncho trans can run 8's doesn't mean it can do it reliably. What Shep didn't tell you is that he probably had to change the synchros every other week in that 8-second synchro trans from the 10K+ shifts.

I got sick of having to get the stage4 rebuilt, every time I would break an axle off the line it would shadder the synchro springs, plus their a ticking time bomb!
Also the synchros didn't like the abuse that I was giving them, I have had the synchros replaced 3 times sence I've owned it!

Let the trans laugh at the power Im giving it, big deal this is the last trans I will ever need.... My plans are 8s in the next year or two.
Just gotta get into the nines first, it hasnt been easy, or cheap!

I love reading this thread everyday!

Some people are hating though. If you had a stage 1 trans everyone would tell you your stupid and need a stage 4. Now that you have the best, they are saying it's too much.
I would kill to have your car. Good luck for your 9 sec timeslip!

Thanks man!
No one is really hating on it, just their opinion which is fine! Funny thing is, I never paid $6k for my dogbox, not even near that!!! We will leave it at that..:sneaky:
